The crowd was anticipating the talented acapella group “Straight No Chaser” to perform their rendition of the well-known hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” when they took the stage. Everyone is familiar with and adores this iconic song, which was first performed in 1961 by The Tokens. Rock bands like R.E have covered it. M. and Billy Joel, as well as the Muppets, have joined in on the fun.

Everyone in the audience started laughing when a member of “Straight No Chaser” stood up and revealed that they had made their own choreography for the song. In the arena, the energy increased noticeably. It was obvious that this performance would stand out from the rest.

These ten men may be dressed in beige suits on stage, but they are anything but ordinary. They are not your typical a cappella group in the least. Instead, they’ve added their colorful and energetic style to the genre, differentiating themselves from the competition.

These accomplished people, who are all graduates of Indiana University, not only have perfected their harmonies but also have a comical zest that has drawn attention from all over the country. And when you see performances like the one shown here, it’s clear why fans are clamoring for tickets to see them in person!

These funny guys, who prided themselves on being “neither strait-laced nor straight-faced,” had the audience in fits of laughter the entire time. Laughter started to spread through the audience as they lined up on stage. Additionally, the laughter was only made funnier when they began stretching out as if getting ready for a race. After all, a performance wouldn’t be complete without some dancing.

Do not be fooled, however, by their comic antics. ‘Straight No Chaser’ is not just for laughs. They effortlessly captivate everyone’s attention with their strong vocals, flawless harmonies, and assured stage presence as they exhibit both style and substance. The laughter is interspersed throughout, enhancing the overall enjoyment, and the resounding applause at the conclusion is proof of their extraordinary talent.

Although “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” has been sung many times before, this amazing a cappella version stands out for some reason. In order to fully appreciate this lovely acoustic and visual performance, please take a seat back, watch, and enjoy it.
