According to a survey conducted by OnePoll, three breeds took the top spot for popular pet food brand Solid Gold and earned the honor of being named America’s Favorite Breed: Australian Shepherd, Corgi and Border Collie!

Of the 2,000 dog owners who took part in the study, 79% were sheepdog owners who claimed their dogs lived like royalty. Let’s meet the winner!

Australian Shepherd

There are many different breeds of sheepdogs, but the Australian Shepherd is by far one of the most beautiful breeds! These medium-sized, double-coated dogs are often described as intelligent, easy-going and great with children!

But one of their best qualities is, of course, their desire to please their owners. No wonder they topped the list!

border collie

Slightly smaller than the Australian Border Collie, Border Collies are known for their friendly nature and wonderful relationships with their owners! With their medium-length, wavy fur, these dogs are one of the most intelligent breeds in the world!

However, as this breed is primarily a working breed, it is not for everyone. Collies have to work all the time. Otherwise you will get bored and become self-destructive!

corgis

Who would have thought that a young boy would become such a great shepherd? But these are corgis! These small, short-haired canines are known for their lively personalities. You can expect them to be loud and rambunctious at times, and if you don’t keep them busy, they can behave strangely at times.

In addition, Corgis are very friendly dogs with a great ability to adapt to new situations. They don’t mind meeting new people or other dogs, but are happiest with their owners!

bulldog

The wrinkles on their faces and bodies are probably their universal trademark and what makes them so cute! These dogs are very loyal, adapt well to both the city and the country, and get along well with all family members!

boston terrier

The great thing about Boston Terriers is that they don’t bark excessively, making them perfect for the city! In fact, these small dogs with long ears are known for their friendly demeanor, which is why they are so popular in the United States!

They get along well with children, strangers, cats and other pets and love their company. The problem is that you can suffer from various diseases such as patellar dislocation and brachycephalic syndrome.

shiba inus

Unlike their Akita cousins, these Japanese live much more comfortably in apartments. Shiba Inus are loyal and friendly dogs that form lifelong bonds with their owners, but problems can arise if not properly trained.

Despite their friendly nature, Shiba Inus can sometimes be independent and high maintenance. Therefore, it is best to learn obedience from an early age. Mental stimulation with suitable dog toys or interactive games is not the worst option!

Jack Russell – Includes very stylish dogs with a variety of beautiful colors: white, tricolor, red and white, lemon and white. Scottish terrier
The United Kennel Club describes these dogs as small and compact dogs. Popularly known as Scotties, these miniature dogs will be fun and confident dogs that won’t bore you!

Their human nature is such that many people choose them!

Staffordshire terrier

Above all, Staffordshire Hounds are one of the most reliable and friendly dogs you can have at home! With responsible upbringing, these dogs will become reliable companions who will be with you until the end. This breed generally gets along well with children and other animals, but does not get along well with other dogs. The good news is that it’s not noisy, so it’s perfect for apartment living!

Parameters Taken Into Consideration

During the research, three main parameters were taken into consideration to assess the extent to which dogs have been spoiled by their owners: playtime, sleeping in places where they usually wouldn’t be allowed to sleep, and talking to them as if they were children.

When asked about the activities on that day, around 45% of respondents said that they’d play with their dogs “all day long”. This clearly indicates that playtime is crucial for the development of a strong bond between a dog and a human, as it represents a common activity where the two set the ground for lifelong friendship. During playtime, dogs “joyfully provide a pretty clear window into their head and heart,” according to Psychology Today.Around 35% of respondents allow their doggos to sleep in their bed or in places where they’re usually not allowed to sleep, and 32% of them talk to their companions as if they were children.

These three groups of dogs are definitely in the position to call themselves America’s sweethearts, as they’re indeed treated that way! And, even if your dog isn’t on this list, don’t worry!
