Sheree Psaila has lived her entire life defying the expectations of those around her. She was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenital (AMC), an extremely rare disease that results in the absence of muscle tissue in the arms and legs.

Life has been an uphill battle, as you might imagine, and at first, not even her medical professionals had faith in her. They told Sheree’s parents that she probably wouldn’t live to see her first birthday.

Her doctors predicted that Sheree would likely need to use a wheelchair for the rest of her life after 20 unsuccessful surgeries. But Sheree wasn’t going to let anyone else decide what would happen to her.

She was already determined at the young age of five not to let bullies stop her from living life to the fullest. Sheree met Chris, her future husband, while she was a student. He also has a hereditary condition that affects the lower part of his spine.

Sheree and Chris were eager to try and start a family after getting married in March 2015. The first time around, Sheree unfortunately experienced a miscarriage. But after processing the overwhelming grief, the couple gave it another shot.

Sheree told the Daily Mail, “The doctors told me I probably wouldn’t be able to have kids, although they didn’t give me a reason why not. Sheree’s doctors believed it would take a miracle for her to be able to carry and deliver a baby because she is only slightly taller than four feet (122 cm) than that. Every skeptic would soon be forced to eat their words, as usual.

Sheree gave birth to a son via c-section after moving to Melbourne with Chris.

Given the circumstances, it’s impressive that baby Hayden arrived weighing 5 1/2 pounds (2 point 5 kilograms). And despite Chris and Sheree’s worries, he does not have any genetic disorders or physical limitations. Everyone agrees that Hayden is a miracle, and after Sheree’s arduous journey, Sheree deserves nothing less. Sheree and Chris do face more difficulties than the majority of parents, but they have demonstrated how love can conquer all by working together.

Sheree finds it challenging to lift Hayden due to her lack of muscle. Fortunately, she has a caretaker who comes to help five days a week. Chris, however, has the most responsibility. Sheree says, “I want to be able to hold him in the pool and do all of the things that Chris does with him when we go swimming. Sheree enjoys being a mom to her happy, healthy boy despite the daily struggle.

Despite always having disabilities, Sheree keeps going to school and pursuing her dream.
