While it’s great to see a happy puppy from a shelter finally find a new family and forever home, it’s also a little sad to see a puppy trying to get adopted.

Many shelter dogs have this problem, and it gets worse when their shelter friends abandon them because they can be lonely.

Meet Chauncey

I am sad to see my adopted friend.

The story begins with Chauncey. He is a very shy but loving and playful dog fostered by the Spartanburg Humane Society. He spent a lot of time there watching his friends leave with their new families and saw them leave through the peephole in the door.

The people who worked at the shelter couldn’t understand why no one wanted to adopt Chauncey. Angel Cox, CEO of the Spartanburg Humane Society, said in an interview with The Dodo: Chauncey is very shy until he gets to know you. So despite all the barking and constant activity at the shelter, he watched the world go by. They all felt sorry for his situation and stood by him. They walked him, petted him and gave him treats. “The staff and volunteers loved holding him and walking him,” Cox said. Because he is so talented, he is the volunteer’s favorite person. No one seems to have found him, but a family came to the shelter and adopted him. Chauncey spent time with his new family and experienced what it was like to own a home. Unfortunately, this did not help him, so his new family sent him back to the shelter.

Thanks to the ruthless treatment of the Spartanburg employees, Chauncey was given a second chance at life. The staff refused to accept his terms, so they posted about Chauncey on Facebook, hoping to find someone new.

Soon, another family saw him and decided to adopt him. This time he immediately showed his charm to his new family and they knew he was the one they were looking for.

COX: It sold immediately. He is a very friendly dog and puts them at ease with his gentleness.

Everyone at the shelter was so excited and happy that he finally found his forever home. Although Chauncey faced many challenges due to his shyness, he never lost hope. Her story will hopefully inspire many people not to overlook a calm dog if they want to adopt one.
