They say not every home should have a dog, but every dog should have a home!
When Opal was first discovered, she was a stray puppy. This beautiful white husky was unjustly left abandoned in the middle of the street. It really seemed like a lost cause until one day a woman decided to change her life for the better!

Diane Evert, founder of F_a_r_t (Foster, Adopt, Rescue, Transport) in Kingsburg, California, saw this large group from her car during a road trip and her rescue heart immediately went into gear!
He decided to turn around, stop the car and attempt a rescue!
Husky smells like sand
Diane spent an hour and a half trying to call Opal until Opal finally gave up. Even though he had a lot of experience in this field, he didn’t want to rush things and really wanted to give Opal a chance. Time to get used to it. Another 40 minutes and a bag of chicken nuggets later, Opal was in the car, ready to embark on another journey with her unexpected mother!

Diane found Opal a foster home, but she didn’t expect this girl to be one of her most “temporary” residents!
Although the girl immediately adapted to the foster home and became good friends with Diana’s other dogs, the white couple’s enrollment did not come soon enough.
Instead of spending months in foster care, Opal spent more than 700 days with rescuers and foster children.
“She is a quiet husky, doesn’t follow the typical husky norm with her vocals. Opal is veeeery affectionate. Loves being loved on and snuggling up to her hooman,” says Diane on her official Instagram.
Still, Diane didn’t mind having Opal in her home for as long as she needed, as she wanted to make sure that the family who adopted Opal was the perfect fit for her. After all – Opal was an amazing girl who deserved a loving home!
“Even if I knew the commitment the day I saw you, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I love you, and your momma SO much,” Diane wrote on her Facebook.
Emy Was Just Meant To Be
Emy, a woman from Wisconsin, saw a video of Opal a year before she decided to adopt her and, according to Diane, she was one of her biggest supporters.
She wanted this pawdorable girl to end up in a beautiful home, surrounded by a family who’d appreciate her for who she is.
After some thinking, she contacted Diane and arranged a meeting in Vegas. It took her a week to drive herself all the way there from Wisconsin, but eventually, she made it to probably one of the most emotional meetings she ever had!
“Seven days, ten states, fourteen tanks of gas – and one dog home forever. I hope I have all the time in the world with her,” Emy said.
Even though they met for the first time, meeting with Diane and Opal definitely didn’t seem like meeting strangers. They bonded right off the bat and, most importantly, Opal loved Emy right away!
After the initial introduction, Opal didn’t mind jumping into Emy’s car, and even though a long drive was ahead of this new duo, they didn’t mind at all – Emy and Opal seemed so happy together!
Living The Best Life In Wisconsin
Today, Opal is the happiest doggo girl, hanging out with Emy’s other dogs and enjoying being the center of attention 24/7.
Even though she’s in a forever home now, Emy decided to keep Opal’s community posted about this white fluff. And, most of all – she and Diane kept in touch and became friends!
You can keep up with Opal’s adventures on Emy’s Instagram.
“I know she has had a community surrounding and supporting her for 733 days before becoming my dog. I want to assure you all, I will continue to share her with you. That means the hood and the not so good. She is after all OUR dog. Thank you all for loving her,” wrote Emy.
Once an abandoned doggo fending for herself, Opal’s now the happiest Husky alive!
