Our animals rely heavily on Homa to keep them clean and fresh.
While you can do some self-care, a good bath and professional grooming can do wonders. This is especially true if the fur is long and soft. However, if you don’t brush your dog regularly, his long, full fur can become tangled and even dull, making your dog very unhappy.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Precious, the dog in today’s story.

A mysterious animal was brought to the shelter
When someone brought a matted coat to the Central Missouri Humane Society (CMHS), everyone was confused as to what was hidden underneath.
According to the person who brought him in, the dog was hiding in a small dog bed in the parking lot of a local grocery store. The shelter staff decided to free the dog from its shameful fur and immediately got to work.
The flea mats were so bad the dog couldn’t even walk on them.

The shelter’s veterinary team decided to sedate the dog to avoid discomfort during the epilation. The whole process took about 3 hours. Aside from the hard carpet covering one of his eyes, his nails had grown so long that they almost touched his soles.

After scraping all my joints I had a proper bath. Love finally seemed like herself, but unfortunately she still couldn’t walk.
An x-ray showed that he had been in this position for so long that his leg was completely deformed. He was also found to have several broken bones.
The shelter reported consulting with Missouri Vet Med Orthopedics, but had no good news. They said there are no treatment options other than symptomatic treatment to keep the dog comfortable.
But the kind souls at CMHS weren’t ready to give up on Precious just yet!

As soon as they heard her story, Precious soon found a loving foster home. Her foster parents patiently worked with her to help her get comfortable and regain her strength.
His coat is nice and soft again and he can sit up on his own. Soon, thanks to this love and care, Precious found her forever home!
