There are people who are very indifferent and cruel to dogs. Some people lock their dogs up for days without food or treats.
Angelica and her friend Spud were among the lucky and rescued dogs.
Saved from a terrible place
A big dog in a small box looks sad
When Amy and Stacey of Knine Rescue Inc. they met Angelica and Spud, they were kept in a small, locked box that had never been cleaned. At least that much they could tell from the foul smell that filled the air and the mess inside the two drawers.
When released, rescuers were wary that these dogs would develop a degree of fear aggression due to neglect, but the opposite was true. They immediately thanked the couple for their release and hugged and kissed them.

They were cleaned up and taken to an orphanage.
Angelica’s friend adopted Spud within a few weeks because he was smaller and the small space in the box didn’t bother him too much. And Angelica was locked in that box for about six years, which meant she had to be left behind a bit.
This caused the muscles in his back legs to atrophy and rescuers had to help him up. Fortunately, he had great faith in his rescuers, so the process went smoothly.
A Taste of Freedom (and Food)

When he recovered, he ate a delicious and juicy burger for his first taste of real food.
As soon as he took a bite, he fell in love with the taste and couldn’t resist swallowing the burger without chewing it. It’s a bit absurd, but it’s a nice scene to watch.
The rest of his rehabilitation was uneventful. When he was finally free, Angelica was by his side.

Angelica’s transformation from a neglected and smelly dog to a happy and healthy dog is amazing.
It’s a heartwarming sight to see two formerly abused dogs being given a new life and fully embracing it.
It just goes to show how this small act of kindness can make a difference in your dog’s life. No one expects people who don’t work in dog rescue to go out and rehabilitate abused dogs, but adoption is a good alternative if that’s what you want.
Some of these shelter dogs just want the opportunity to be with their families, and this will be a fraction of the cost of getting a dog from a breeder. If you’re considering a soft addition to your family, this is something to think about.
Until next time, pet parents.
