Tanya Dubbs of Pocahontas, Virginia, found herself on the brink of an extraordinary event when her Great Dane, Namine, was due to give birth. Little did she anticipate that Namine’s labor would result in a headline-worthy event. In March of this year, Namine surpassed all expectations by delivering an astonishing 21 puppies over a period of 27 hours.

A Surprising Turn of Events

As Namine’s litter continued to grow, Tanya and her family were astounded by the unfolding miracle. Initially expecting a larger-than-average litter due to Namine’s breed, they were taken aback as the number climbed beyond their predictions.

Even reaching 16 puppies was beyond their expectations, but Namine’s labor persisted, culminating in the birth of an astounding 21 puppies. Despite the joyous occasion, the loss of two puppies shortly after birth left Namine to care for 19 newborns.

Remarkable Size and Care

The newborn puppies were robust, with almost all weighing over a pound at birth, except for two slightly smaller ones. With such a large litter, Tanya faced the challenge of ensuring all the puppies received adequate nourishment from their mother.

She diligently monitored their feeding and supplemented with bottle feeding when necessary. While Namine’s litter is an impressive feat, the world record for the largest litter remains with a Neapolitan Mastiff named Tia, who birthed 24 puppies in one litter.

A Tale of Resilience

Namine’s journey to motherhood is one of resilience and triumph. Just a year prior, she survived a life-threatening accident when she and her sibling, Malificent, ran away from home and were struck by a truck. The accident left Namine with injuries to her back and eye, but with proper care, she recovered fully, defying the odds and emerging stronger than ever.

A Heartwarming Future

Despite the challenges and surprises along the way, Tanya remains committed to ensuring the well-being of Namine and her puppies. Plans to sell the puppies are underway, with a portion of the proceeds earmarked for donation to the Tazewell County Animal Shelter.

With a loving family and devoted doggo siblings by her side, Namine is poised to enjoy a fulfilling life filled with love and companionship. Known for her nurturing nature, she’ll continue to shower her family with affection and care, proving that even the biggest of hearts can be found in the gentlest of giants.
