Niall Harbison, the founder of Happy Doggo, encountered a heart-wrenching scene that would change his life forever. On that fateful day, he discovered an emaciated stray dog chained up on the street. This poor creature, whom he later named Tina, was in a dire state. She was nothing but skin and bones, unable to move, and desperately in need of help.

A Life of Misery

When Niall first saw Tina, his heart broke. This helpless being was severely malnourished and suffering from a terrible skin condition, making her fur almost nonexistent. Initially, Niall couldn’t even identify her breed, only later realizing she was a Golden Retriever. Adding to her misery, Tina had been used as a “breeding machine” for most of her life, leaving her with physical and emotional scars.

The Struggle Continues

Even after Niall brought Tina home, her troubles didn’t end. A few days later, her stomach swelled alarmingly after eating, necessitating an emergency trip to the hospital. The vet managed to relieve the gas buildup, and Tina spent several days in intensive care before finally returning to Niall’s care.

A Ray of Hope

Despite her suffering, Tina began to show signs of recovery. When she smiled again for the first time, it marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. With Niall’s unwavering love and attention, Tina’s wounds, both physical and emotional, started to heal. Her cheerful personality emerged, and she and Niall quickly became inseparable.

An Unbreakable Spirit

Sadly, after four happy months together, Tina was diagnosed with kidney failure. This news devastated Niall, who feared it would break Tina’s spirit. However, Tina’s incredible resilience shone through. She continued to enjoy life, playing with her favorite tennis balls and engaging in outdoor activities like swimming and lounging in her beloved hammock.

Tina’s Legacy

Six beautiful months later, Tina crossed the rainbow bridge. Though Niall was heartbroken, he found solace in the joyful memories they shared. Tina’s spirit and the happiness she brought into Niall’s life inspired him to launch Happy Doggo, one of the largest animal charities, and to build “Tina’s Hospital” in her honor.

An Inspiration for All

Tina’s story is a testament to resilience and the power of love. Her legacy lives on through the organizations Niall created to help other dogs in need. Tina’s life reminds us that even in the face of adversity, it’s worth fighting for every moment. She teaches us to live each day to the fullest and inspires us to break free from our own chains in life.
