A lot of girls find themselves daydreaming about getting married. Their wedding dress is another of the things they give the most thought to. Most women typically have obvious ideas about what they want to wear.
Furthermore, the bride was completely confident in her fashion choices.
In 2016, 23-year-old Allie Livingwater searched her grandmother’s cellar when she discovered something priceless in a trash bag. She immediately realised she would one day walk down the aisle in that dress.
She knew it was time to wear the dress when she became engaged to Timothy Livingwater five years later. About 60 years ago, her grandmother wore the same dress to her wedding, and Allie would now don it again.
Allie wore the unique dress on September 25 and couldn’t have been happier, and her grandmother was equally thrilled, having been the one to give Allie her “something old” and “something borrowed” with her dress.
The dress fit Allie like a glove after being expertly cleaned; no alterations were required. Allie only altered it by adding a hoop skirt underneath.
Of course, seeing her granddaughter walk down the aisle in her wedding dress at Turners Falls brought her grandmother to tears.
On Facebook, Allie Livingwater discussed her wedding and the significance of her dress. She posted a side-by-side photo of herself and her grandmother wearing it to show everyone what the dress looked like.
She mentioned that she would remember it forever because of her unique and special wedding.
Because she has lived with her grandmother since she was a baby, Allie has an extraordinary relationship with her. After Allie’s grandmother divorced after 38 years of marriage, the family moved in with her. Even though Allie had never met her grandfather, wearing her grandmother’s wedding gown made her feel more connected to him.
The grandmother of Allie was overcome with emotion because she never imagined her dress would be worn to another wedding, much less those of her granddaughters. She had dismissed it, assuming it would never be helpful again.
Such a sweet tale and a touching interaction between a grandmother and her granddaughter. I wish everyone could have a grandparent relationship like this.
Share this wonderful tale to encourage other brides to dress in family heirlooms on their special day!
