Margareta Johansson has held the position of European Commissioner for Home Affairs since 2019. Her birthday is February 13, 1964. She held the position of labor minister from 2014 to 2019. She has been a representative in the Swedish Riksdag since 2006.

The Stockholm Institute of Education and Lund University awarded Johansson a Master of Science in teaching between 1983 and 1992. When she graduated, she started teaching math, physics, and chemistry. In the 1988 Swedish elections for the Riksdag, Johansson was chosen to represent the Left Party-Communists.
