One of the great things about humanity is how much we can accomplish when we work together. We handle almost anything. One of the most common problems in the world today is animal cruelty and abuse. No matter how hard people work, it is not an easy task and there is still much to do, but it is better to do it wholeheartedly. In this story we will tell about a dog who has been through a lot, but is lucky enough to get help from people who care about him and want to make the world a better place.

a terrible sight

Hungry dog lying tied up near the station

In July this year, a man coming home from work noticed something strange at a nearby bus stop. He stopped to take a closer look and was shocked to realize that it was actually a dog that had been tied to a couch and left there to die.

The poor man was so malnourished that he could not stand up. The man immediately called for help. Lost Rescuer Donna Lohmann, Chief Rescue Officer in St. Louis, sent to Dodo: practically picked him up and took him home. Then he called us.

The woman quickly arrived at the man’s house and was surprised at how weak the dog was. “He wasn’t weak, he was skinny,” Roman said. He was lying outside in the shade, covered with a blanket, but he couldn’t even stand up. So I picked her up and took her to the jeep.

Now the dog named She-Ra couldn’t move, but she was happy to finally get the help she needed.

An emotional journey to recovery

When he finally arrived at the vet clinic, they immediately admitted him, examined him and started treatment.

Clinic staff were unsure of his origins, but Lohman suspected that he had spent most of his life neglected, spending a lot of time in a small box. They gave him a nice bath and he finally started to get better. Because he was so malnourished and had been starving for so long, the hospital staff could not give him much food at once. I gave him food in small portions so his body would get used to processing the nutrients again.

Despite eating regularly, he still couldn’t move, so the staff decided to help him walk in a wheelchair to get some fresh air. After some time, he was finally able to walk again. His body healed at an incredible rate and now they were even able to adjust his diet to allow him to eat more.

He was placed in foster care and eventually adopted. His adoptive family loved him very much. “He was actually living in a foster home with other dogs, a cat, a monkey and a bird,” Roman said. He’s been through a lot and it’s been great. They had a large fenced yard where he loved to run and play with other dogs.

Soon after, a family showed interest in adopting Shira and loved everything about her. He was happy to meet everyone and at that moment they knew he was the one for them.

In his final speech, Lohmann said: His story has a happy ending. It’s a very happy ending for a girl who had nothing to begin with. He’s just a happy dog. When everyone works together to make a dog’s life better, it’s amazing how little effort it takes to make a dog’s life better.
