Al Roker, the beloved Today Show meteorologist, took a break from his job after being admitted to the hospital for blood clots in his legs and lungs. After weeks of therapy, he finally made a nationwide television comeback, looking to be in good health.
The public figure from the media seems to be taking another break for medical reasons. The 68-year-old underwent a total knee replacement and is now recovering.
To inform his followers of his post-surgery condition, Roker uploaded a video of himself walking very slowly down a hospital hallway. In his Wednesday post, Roker wrote, “Up and walking this morning on the new knee step by step. ”.
He expressed appreciation for his doctors in the post. He said that to aid in wound healing, he was “wearing a negative pressure pump.”. The Dire Straits song “Walk of Life” can be heard playing in the background of the video.
The ABC News journalist Dorah Roberts had recently joined him on hospital visits, and he shared a touching slideshow of the two of them along with the caption, “I’m thinking [Roberts, and I have GOT to stop meeting like this. ”.
“Yes.
He was told by his wife, “And we will.
The ABC News reporter also shared pictures of her husband’s most recent hospitalization with the caption “Wednesday wonder. Part 2 of my sweet [Roker’s] health journey,” Roberts penned. We are extremely grateful to the skilled medical team who, in the face of such a difficult situation, managed to get him back on his feet with a new knee and a sense of self-assurance. Moving forward with grit, gratitude, and grace. By everyone’s kind words, intercessions, and wishes for excellent medical care, I am humbled. ”.
The newsroom legend is doing well, but his recent illness was challenging. His wife, Roberts, informed the media that her husband’s condition was “very, very critical” at the time.
She said it was “one of the most exhausting and difficult things I have ever had to cope with,” adding that she experienced one health issue after another. Since 1995, Roberts and Roker have been married. Age 62 is Roberts’ age. Their children are named Nicholas and Leila, respectively.
The ABC journalist said she wished such an experience would never happen to a family, but she also said it had given her some valuable life lessons. It taught her that “you can step up and do whatever you need to do.”. ”.
“After the crisis passed, my entire family and I almost lost it,” she remarked. “We were unaware of the adrenaline rush from constantly pursuing him.
It wasn’t until the fog began to clear and the dust started to settle that I realized how challenging it was.
Then I realized how difficult it was. I was going to finish the job, heal him, and take care of him. ”.
Roker asserts that he is “more passionate” than ever about his work and doesn’t intend to retire.
Roker recalled how his father, who was 55 at the time, stopped operating buses because he no longer found the job enjoyable. But for Roker, being a part of the Today Show has been and continues to be an amazing experience. I cannot tell you how much I am anticipating it, he said. How can something like this be abandoned when every day is different and our viewers tune into the Today Show, our team, and our producers?
Roker standing up once more makes us incredibly happy. Inform your friends and loved ones about this improvement in Al Roker’s health and we hope to see him back on our televisions very soon.
