It’s common knowledge that Barron Trump’s childhood was quite like no one else’s. The son of the business mogul grew up at the Trump Tower in Manhattan, enjoying a life of luxury and things others could only dream of.
Things became even more special when he, at age 11, moved into the White House, becoming the first “first son” living there since the Kennedy administration. Meanwhile, his mother tried to protect him the best way she could, and therefore, not much is known about Barron’s life within the historical walls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
However, once, Barron Trump showed his class what life was like at the White House. Reports revealed that he had planned a field trip to the White House for his classmates – and it’s safe to say they got the experience of a lifetime
Barron Trump was known to the world just minutes after he was born. His father, Donald Trump, spoke to the media 20 minutes after his birth, and at only two months, he appeared in an interview with Gayle King for The Oprah Winfrey Show.

As a young boy, Barron showed he had a very creative side, and Melania encouraged him to explore that side however he wished. In fact, he even got to draw on the walls of what has been reported as his own floor at the Trump Tower.
“In his space, the décor style of the rest of our home is mixed with what he is into: planes and helicopters,” Melania told Parenting
“We let him be creative; let his imagination fly and do whatever he wants. Whatever he wants to do with his own room later on, he can do it. Whatever he wants to do with his own room he can do it. He draws on the walls, we can paint it over.”
“When he was smaller, he started drawing on the walls,” she added. “His imagination is growing and important. He draws on the walls in his playroom, we can paint it over. One day he was playing bakery and he wrote ‘Barron’s Bakery’ on the wall with crayons. He is very creative, if you say to a child ‘no, no, no,’ where does the creativity go?”
When Donald Trump was elected president in 2016, Melania decided that she and their son, Barron Trump, would stay in New York City for about six months so he could finish up his school year, several media outlets reported.
“It’s Melania who wants to stay. She doesn’t want to take Barron out of school,” an unnamed source told the New York Daily News. “She’s concerned that he won’t have the same relationship with new teachers that he has at Columbia Prep.”
Barron Trump attended the prestigious Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City, a two-century-old, non-secular private school.
When finished with school in “The Big Apple,” Barron and Melania headed for the White House. Barron became the first boy to live in the White House since JFK Jr.
Barron Trump’s time at the White House
Barack Obama, George Bush Jr, and Bill Clinton – the three most recent presidents – have been fathers to only girls. Other presidents since JFK have had sons, though they’ve all been adults and lived outside of the White House.
Barron Trump attended the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, a private school about 30 minutes away from the White House.
“It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence,” Melania Trump said shortly before relocating from New York to the White House. “The mission of St. Andrew’s is ‘to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning, and service,’ all of which appealed to our family.”
During Donald Trump’s presidency, Barron Trump wasn’t seen in public much. He was mainly spotted traveling with his parents, boarding and leaving Air Force One or his father’s helicopter.
Those occasions often connected with the Trump family returning or leaving for their holiday trips to Mar-a-Lago in Florida. That’s also where Donald Trump and his family decided to travel following his last day in the White House and where they live today.
Throughout their time in the White House, Melania Trump was clear that she wanted to protect her son from scrutiny, especially since being the president’s son can be demanding.
In early 2017, The White House called for the media’s cooperation, asking them to give Barron Trump privacy.
“It is a longstanding tradition that the children of Presidents are afforded the opportunity to grow up outside of the political spotlight. The White House fully expects this tradition to continue. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter,” the White House said.
Melania protects her son from media scrutiny
Being the son of the president means having your every move tracked. That’s why Melania Trump did not let Barron issue his own statements. Instead, all communication went through Melania and her office of communications.
Still, to this day, Melania Trump is very protective of her son. Earlier this year, she became furious with Donald as he posted about their son on social media.
In September, Donald Trump posted a meme picture on Truth Social featuring a photoshopped image of Barron Trump standing at a podium. The words read, “In an effort to level the playing field, Barron Trump will debate Joe Biden!”
“No Contest!!!” Donald Trump added. However, this did not go well with Melania, who became very angry with Donald.
At the time, a source told RadarOnline, “Melania has been incredibly protective of Barron and has told Donald she would not stand for him to be exploited by anyone, even his father! He made a promise to protect their son — and he broke it. There’s a good chance she won’t forgive him, and the next time we see them together may be in divorce court.”
While his years at the White House are pretty much a big mystery, details about Barron Trump’s tenure as the first son were exposed to the public twice.
Before he moved to Washington from New York, it was apparent that he and his friends at school were excited to spend time in the White House together.
Barron Trump wanted to invite friends for sleepovers at the White House
According to the Confidential, Barron was excited to invite his friends and have sleepovers per the New York Daily News.
“Barron has been asking some of his school friends to come visit him in the White House,” the report stated. “He has said to his parents, ‘I hope there are bedrooms for my friends to come visit.’”
“Kids at his school are already planning sleepovers,” a source told the NY Daily News, referring to the Upper West Side’s Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School.
When thinking back to childhood, visiting your mother or father at work was a great experience. It was exciting to see all the different things you could do at the office, for example, and even more fun was bringing friends with you.
Well, if there is one job that a parent has that is probably the most exciting and thrilling, it must be the job of the President of the United States. And before Barron Trump moved to Washington with his mother, he decided to give his Upper West Side School classmates a day to remember.
As reported by PageSix, in May 2017, Barron took his classmates on a trip to Washington to visit the White House. According to the new outlet, around 80 children from Barron’s school joined the trip.
Usually, when classes visit the White House for a tour, they probably get a guide and see some of the hallways, and if they’re lucky, they might see someone from the White House staff.
Barron brought classmates to visit the White House and meet Donald Trump
But, of course, when Barron Trump was in charge, it became a more intimate tour of their home.
“All the kids got dressed up,” a source told Page Six. “The girls were in dresses, and the boys wore khaki pants and button-downs. It was so cute.”
The children were accompanied by their teachers and Secret Service agents to the White House. They also had a tour of DC and stayed at a hotel overnight before returning to New York.
The highlight for the student was, most certainly, meeting the president himself.
“They had a buffet lunch and a tour of the White House and met the president and the first lady, Melania Trump. President Trump gave them all a rousing speech about living up to your potential and being the best you could be for your country. Barron was really sweet. He was so excited to show his classmates around the White House,” the source continued.
So, what is Barron Trump up to today? The now 17-year-old has begun his last year at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida. Sadly, not long ago, he received death threats from a Chicago woman who sent multiple death threats to Barron Trump’s schoolmaster between May and June. She has since been detained and charged.
As the New York Times reported, Melania and Donald are already looking at colleges in New York. Donald Trump later confirmed in an interview with author Megyn Kelly that he and Melania are “looking into” the possibility of Barron attending the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania as he spoke with author Megyn Kelly.
“He’s a good kid, he’s a good-looking kid. He’s a great student, very good student,” the former president said.
