The cause of Rep. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo. ) just seconds after receiving a pin honoring a young victim of the Uvalde, Texas school shooting.

Maite Rodriguez, 10, was wearing green Converse shoes when she was fatally shot, and the pin was an exact replica of those shoes. Those shoes allowed Maite’s family members to find her body after she passed away.

In a video posted on Twitter by the PatriotTakes account, Boebert apologized for “the appearance” of “disrespecting a child” when she threw the pin into the trash, but she put the blame on her AirPods and said the man who gave her the pin had previously approached her “aggressively.”.

Boebert said, “I recognized him as a man who came at me quite forcefully just a few weeks prior during a press appearance. He handed me what turned out to be a memorial pin. I tried to explain to the man that I was walking and wearing AirPods to keep myself busy, but he insisted. Because of his aggressiveness, he was captured by another member and taken into custody by Capitol Police.

Boebert claims that she had the intention of “making it very clear that I did not want to receive anything that this man had to give, nor did I know what he was handing me. “.

She went on to say that she had been “very vocal” in her opposition to the shooting in Uvalde and that she had thrown the pin away without any malice.

Jake Burdett, an activist who was expelled by Rep. Boebert from a press conference, is confused with him by Boebert. Clay Higgins, a Republican from Louisiana. Elijah Pelton, the activist who gave Boebert the pin, claimed that Boebert received the pin (in May) for voicing concerns about his divorce.

Below is a picture of the pin that was affixed to a card outlining Maite’s story, along with a clip of Boebert throwing the card into the trash after their encounter last week.
