Ty Pennington is giving fans an update on his condition after being hospitalized and intubated just hours after attending the Barbie premiere.
On July 14, Pennington, who is best known for playing the carpenter on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, uploaded photos of himself on Instagram while donning a hospital gown.
Before Pennington regained consciousness, he was intubated at one point. “This past week has been interesting, from the red carpet to the intensive care unit!”.
“I’m okay now, still recovering, but I felt it looked weird that I hadn’t posted about my teams BOTB VICTORY! SO freaking proud of @smashingdiy and @iamstevelewis!!,” Pennington continued to his fans.
Pennington went on to describe the specifics of what took place. To clarify why I disappeared, I attended the red carpet for @barbiethemovie on Sunday, traveled to Colorado on Monday to start the Breckinridge production, and woke up at 4 a.m. m. Tuesday, I could hardly breathe. My sore throat, which I’ve had for the past month, is actually an abscess that has grown so large that it is obstructing my airway. Immediately after being intubated, I was taken to the Denver ICU.
After having surgery on Wednesday, I was discharged from the intensive care unit yesterday afternoon. Many thanks to the fantastic staff at Summit Health in Frisco and St. Anthony’s in Lakewood, Colorado for looking after me so well. The hashtag and the statement “Just happy to be here” by Pennington serve as a great reminder to listen to your body when it’s trying to communicate with you.
We are so relieved to learn that Pennington is now doing well and is making a full recovery!
