Concerning the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards, Christina Applegate is conflicted. Because she is still dealing with the effects of the condition, the Dead to Me actress stated that the upcoming SAG Awards will most likely be her last. She was given the MS diagnosis in 2021. In an interview, Applegate, 51, stated, “It’s a big deal because it’s probably my last awards show as an actor.”
“Right now, I couldn’t imagine working on a set for 12 to 14 hours at 5 a.m.; She went on to say, “I don’t have that in me.”
For her performance as Jen Harding in the Netflix comedy, Applegate is up for an award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series. The Los Angeles Times reports that Applegate no longer intends to pursue acting, but that she will pursue voice-over work as her next career move. She elaborated, “I’m doing a lot of voice-over work to make some money so that my daughter can eat and we can stay at home.”
Nearly two years after receiving a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, Applegate made her remarks. She was working on the third and final season of Dead to Me, so she had to stop filming to get treatment. The actress said in another interview that her co-stars, the showrunner, and the “incredible” cast were “Jen and Judy combined into a human, most perfectly and beautifully possible.” She was referring to the friendship between her character and Judy Hale, played by Linda Cardellini.
Applegate acknowledged, “I was a complete mess every day, but the majority of that mess happened in my trailer by myself.” On the other hand, there were times when I would snap and say, “I can’t, we need to take a break, I need a half-hour,” and everyone was so understanding that it was acceptable.
Applegate also talked about how hard it was to watch the third season when it came out on Netflix. She elaborated, “I don’t like seeing myself struggle. What’s more, because of dormancy and prescription, I acquired 40 pounds, causing me to feel and look unrecognizable.” She watched alone, only stopping when it hurt too much. I eventually was able to let go of my ego and appreciate the stunning television. Every scene I hadn’t seen before was a joy to see and experience. In a November interview, Applegate considered the show’s creation, saying it was “as troublesome as you might at any point envision.”
She described her acting career as “discovering what I’m capable of.” With this, I’m just getting started. It requires investment to comprehend this sickness and what makes the side effects show up. When I tell them, “Hey, I can only work five hours,” they won’t treat me like a princess. The actress, who was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 14, said that she is looking for “a place that will allow me to work five hours if I’m not the star” and that it might no longer be possible for her to appear as the star in a project. I am unable to continue the work I have already completed. She went on to talk about her family, particularly her 12-year-old daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble, whom she shares with her husband Martyn LeNoble. “It was so difficult,” she said.
“You know, I think this was it, I think. I might dislike spending time alone in my room, who knows? She continued, “I want to create, develop, and produce things.” There are so many ideas in my head that I just need to put some of them into action.
