Having raised her three children alone, Audrey was a little lethargic. She went to the hospital for testing and asked an unremarkable neighbor if her kids could spend the night. Tisha, her neighbor, concurred despite having a full home and five kids of her own. After a tense wait, Audrey got a call from the hospital, asking her to come in for a consultation with her doctor about her test results. The news was unfortunate, though.
She was given the unfortunate news that she had stage II esophageal stomach cancer.
Audrey understood that she didn’t have much time left. But before it was over, she wanted to make sure that her kids were safe. She asked Tisha, who she wasn’t particularly close to, if she would be willing to raise her kids. Tisha and her husband, Kevin, agreed despite having five children already.
Knowing that her kind neighbors were taking good care of her children, Audrey succumbed to cancer quickly. Tisha and Kevin’s selfless adoption of Audrey’s children and desire to help them were described to a television crew. The heartbreaking tale is available to watch below.
