Mark Wahlberg has recently become more outspoken about his religious views and does not hide them.
Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, saw the actor on the Today Show. He talked to Savannah Guthrie about his decision not to force his religion on others, particularly his kids, throughout the course of the interview.

He said, “Fasting has many different components. “I believe it’s crucial to realize there are other factors to take into account if you have eating difficulties. The things you should avoid are things that God is aware of. We are all conscious of the behaviors that deprive us of the satisfying emotions we deserve. ”.

On Ash Wednesday, Wahlberg said he would abstain from meat and eat only one meal, a practice he’ll keep up through Good Friday.

“As I started getting into movies and moving away from music, I realized I needed a lot more discipline in my life, and that discipline has given me so many other things. I’ve been so richly rewarded for it, and I want to give it to others, whether by fasting, increasing one’s level of physical activity, putting aside other interests, or just spending more time with God in prayer or intentional study. ”.
He still takes care to not impose his views on others. He emphasized to Guthrie that “it’s important to respect and honor them [and their beliefs] as well,” even though he thought it was crucial to spread this faith. ”.
