One might argue that valuing one’s fellow humans equally, regardless of race, religion, or appearance, is one of the most important things in the world. My parents made a lot of effort to instill in me the idea that, unless someone proves otherwise, you should treat everyone you meet with respect. I believe it is cruel and, to put it bluntly, inappropriate to judge someone based solely on how they appear or other differences.

It’s unfortunate that some people just can’t seem to stop. When people see that others are not like them, they choose to mock and belittle them. Instead of giving people with conditions or illnesses a chance, some are ready to doubt their abilities. One man, Joey Wittkugle, was written off from the start, but his tale serves as the ideal cautionary tale that not all books should be judged by their covers.

Credit: YouTube Bobbi Wittkugle, of Struthers, Ohio, has vivid memories of the day she welcomed her son Joey into the world. She was faced with a choice that day that would change her life, and she made it. To put things in perspective, Joey was born with Down syndrome, and the prognosis for his future was not great. According to reports, Bobbi claimed that a doctor approached her soon after Joey was born and informed her that her child might not even be able to recognize her and that he or she would never be able to talk or walk. Bobbi said that people found it difficult to accept or welcome babies with genetic abnormalities back then because Down Syndrome wasn’t as well-known as it is today. But even though she wasn’t entirely sure what to do, Bobbi knew one thing above all else: she loved her baby. A priest, whom the young mother had confided in, informed her that God had chosen her to be Joey’s mother. From that moment on, Bobbi never looked back, and she and Joey would defy every obstacle in their path.

His family celebrated the occasion with a birthday parade in his hometown.

I don’t know about you, but this story simply made my heart warm. All children deserve to be loved and cherished. I think we can all agree on that! Please share this article on Facebook if you want to send best wishes to Joey! Bobbi, who was 90 at the time, said: “When you see one of our children, don’t turn your back at them like they did years ago.
They are human, they are special from God and please learn to love them as much as they love you.
” Joey’s special birthday parade was made up of all of his favorite things, including automobiles, trucks, motorbikes, and first responders there to wish Joey well.
