When they first saw the picture of the dog digging a hole in front of a cemetery online, people thought that the dog was mourning for her deceased owner and yearned to see her owner once more.

But the truth was quite different.

The photo was taken by Vesna Mihajloski, a Serbian photographer. To learn why the dog had dug the hole, she went up to the cemetery, where she discovered an incredible find.

It was found that the dog had never tried to unearth the grave. When she dug the hole, she had an entirely different goal in mind.

She had just given birth to four tiny puppies.

The mother dog wasn’t mourning the loss of a deceased owner at all; she was just a street dog looking for a place to shelter her puppies. She was bloated and feeling lightheaded, so Vesna offered her some food and water.

Vesna gained the dog’s confidence and brought the whole family home.

Finally safe, the mother and puppies could escape the chilly cemetery.

After being allowed to feed in silence, the puppies quickly grew.

Vesna’s yard served as the perfect setting for a game.

They were fed a lot and loved a lot.

Vesna brought the family to the vet to have their health checked and to have them fixed. They wouldn’t be able to have any more puppies, which would keep them from having to live on the streets.

Look how much they’ve developed!

I truly hope that none of the four puppies wind up on the streets and instead find devoted, long-term homes. How wonderful that people care about animals and are worried about these street dogs!
