Al Roker broke heartbreaking news to his audience on Thursday while eulogizing a significant person in his life in a beautiful tribute.
The Today host paid tribute to the late Thom Bell, a celebrated Philadelphia producer, arranger, and songwriter who was born in Jamaica and passed away at age 79, on Instagram after making the shocking decision to leave Twitter this week.
With a picture of Thom, Al wrote, “Thom Bell, a legendary Philadelphia producer, passed away at the age of 79. “His music served as the score to my life. ”.
He was a part of The Spinners, The O’Jays, The Delfonics, The Stylistics, and Elton John’s iconic Philadelphia Sound Of Philadelphia, which was also made up of other artists.

Many of Al’s fans shared their sorrow in the comments section along with their tributes to the late performer, using the crying-face and praying-hand emojis.

In addition to recovering from blood clots in his lungs, Al has had a terrible few weeks. He also learned the heartbreaking news that his sister Patricia had passed away suddenly not long after he was discharged from the hospital.
After Thanksgiving, the host of the Today show, who has been with the program for over 25 years, spent more than two weeks in the hospital because of blood clots.
