Flight attendant Shelia Frederick was worried as a man and a young lady stepped onto an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to San Francisco.
The girl avoided eye contact with anyone and was less stylishly attired than the male.
Working on the plane, Shelia couldn’t help but think about the girl. Finally, she came up with a brilliant but risky concept. This small child was rescued from a terrible situation due to bravery.
Shelia couldn’t help herself, she wanted to look the girl in the eye while bringing food on board the plane.
She confided in a coworker, and the two of them worked to divert the man’s attention while Shelia tried to get the girl’s attention.
When she finally looked up, Shelia noted that her eyes were simply sad.
With the intention of only unlocking it for the girl, she came up with a brilliant plan in which she locked one of the plane’s lavatories while putting a piece of paper and a pencil inside.
Shelia mouthed the toilet and then mimed writing when her colleague finally got the man’s attention. She then awaited the girl’s comprehension.
It’s a good thing the girl called for a reason to use the restroom. Outside the bathroom, the man stayed by her side, but Shelia insisted on staying and keeping an eye on him.
I dropped a letter in one of the restrooms, said Shelia. The note stated, “I need help”.
As soon as the pilot was informed, he worked with ground control to arrange for officials to meet the man upon landing.
The courageous flight attendant recounts the entire incident in the video below.
The young woman Shelia saved from human trafficking remained in touch with her, and the two had spoken on the phone a few times over the years. Even attending college, the young woman is said to be, by the Western Journal.
Shelia advises others, “If you see something, report it”.
Please spread the word in honor of Shelia Frederick, who was brave and excellent, and to inspire others to believe in their gut feelings. She serves as an excellent example for all of us.
