Rosalynn Carter, the former first lady, passed dead at the age of 96. The wife of President Jimmy Carter was well-known for her support of numerous deserving causes, especially her enthusiasm for mental health research, during her tenure as First Lady from 1977 to 1981.

After her death, condolences from past presidents, including Barack Obama and Donald Trump, have been pouring in.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter remained together till the very end. Over seven decades were spent in an amazing love tale between the two.

It’s interesting to note that the couple met in a small rural hamlet with only 600 residents rather than in politics. Here, we look at her amazing life and the romance she had with her husband of many years.

It seemed as though Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter had known one another since birth.

Lillian Carter, Jimmy’s mother, was a nurse when Frances Smith, her neighbour, gave birth one day. After Lillian made the decision to assist with the birth, Eleanor Rosalynn was born.

The next day, Rosalynn had her first encounter with Jimmy, who was three years old at the time. It was the start of a voyage that would last a lifetime, one that would take them to the White House and much, much more.

Jimmy Carter accepted home hospice care earlier this year after turning down medical assistance for a number of health problems. Rosalynn, who was diagnosed with dementia in May, also started receiving hospice care at home a few days ago. The former First Lady’s family revealed her death on Sunday, November 19, at the age of 96.

It is said that she passed away quietly with her loved ones by her side.

In a statement, Jimmy added, “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished.”

“When I needed it, she provided me with sage advice and inspiration. Rosalynn’s presence in the world ensured that I always had love and support from someone.

Soon after Rosalynn’s death was announced to the public, condolences from Washington began to arrive.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden released a statement that said, “above all, the deep love shared between Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter is the definition of partnership, and their humble leadership is the definition of patriotism.” “She made her faith her compass in life.”

“We send our love to President Carter, the Carter family, and the innumerable people around our country and the world whose lives are better, fuller, and brighter because of Rosalynn Carter’s life and legacy on behalf of a grateful nation,” the statement said.

In addition, a number of past first ladies and presidents, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, George W. and Laura Bush, Barack and Michelle Obama, and George W. and Rosalynn, paid respect to the cherished Rosalynn by sharing their insightful remarks and wonderful memories.

Rosalynn Carter has received appreciation for her work from former president Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump, who described her as a “great humanitarian.”

Donald Trump wrote, “Melania and I join all Americans in mourning the loss of Rosalynn Carter.”

“She was a loving wife to her husband, President Carter, for 77 years, a great humanitarian, and a dedicated First Lady.”

“Our entire nation earned the admiration and gratitude of Rosalynn Carter over a life spanning nearly a century,” he continued.

“Rosalynn Carter leaves behind a meaningful legacy not only as First Lady but as a wife and mother,” said Melania Trump in a statement she posted. Her servant’s heart and commitment to her spouse, family, and nation will never fade from our memories. I pray that she finds peace.
