The Charlie Daniels Patriot Award is given to Gary Sinise.
Popular actor Gary Sinise, best known for playing Lt. Dan from the film “Forrest Gump” has formally accepted the prestigious Charlie Daniels Patriot Award. Green Beret combat veteran Joel Pruitt, the award’s recipient from the previous year, and David Corlew, the late Charlie Daniels’ longtime manager and co-founder of The Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project (TCDJHP), gave him the honor.
During the fourth annual ceremony, Sinise’s selection as the 2022 Charlie Daniels Patriot Award recipient was announced. Sadly, due to scheduling issues, he was unable to attend the event. Corlew thinks Daniels would adore Sinise winning the award, though.
According to Corlew, Gary Sinise has established a new standard for veteran support. “Foundations and support organizations can learn a lot from this man. He has employed it to change things for all of us in addition to producing an outstanding body of work in the film and entertainment industry. He is a fantastic illustration of selfless service. He cares, and we care, to put it simply. Charlie would be ecstatic that we achieved this. “.
Sinise expressed his pride and gratitude at receiving the honor. “To receive this award from Charlie Daniels, in his name, is a blessing, a privilege, and an honor. Why did I get so lucky? he questioned.
The Charlie Daniels Patriot Award is given in accordance with the organization’s mission, which is to aid veterans in their transition back into civilian life, rehabilitation, and employment. The award honors people or organizations that best represent the commitment and work of TCDJHP in providing support, encouragement, and care for the men, women, and families who have served our country. Previous honorees include Chris Young, Darryl Worley, Mike Huckabee, Mark “Oz” Geist, Jude Seale, William Horton, Donnie Mingus, MTSU’s Daniels Center, and The Shepherd’s Center.
TCDJHP’s most fruitful year to date was 2022, when they raised more than $1 million for veterans. The Charlie Daniels Patriot Awards, which serve as the organization’s main fundraiser, are just one of the events that help it carry on Daniels’ patriotic mission. Details about the fifth annual special dinner event, which will take place this fall, will soon be released.
