Turning 100 is already an amazing milestone, but the opportunity to celebrate your dog with an amazing parade is everything a dog lover could hope for.

Dr. Robert Moore, retired dean of San Jose State University’s School of Applied Arts and Sciences, granted that wish. His daughter decided to throw him a surprise party and thought it would be a good idea to invite the neighborhood dogs.

He had no idea that this little party would turn into a full blown dog parade…

a memorable day

doctor. Moore has always loved big dogs, so celebrating his 100th birthday with the neighborhood dogs seemed like a good idea. His daughter Alison Moore decided to publish a post on Nextdoor asking people to bring the dog home to celebrate Robert’s 100th birthday.

Alison said NBC Bay Area expects to have as many as 20 to 30 dogs, but the response has been overwhelming. Two dogs ride in the trunk to celebrate a birthday.

San Jose’s two- and four-legged communities came together to create a memorable first day.

In the end, more than 200 dogs and their owners stopped by Dr. George Street. Walk through the swamp and block. Canines wear the best clothes, from tuxedos to cowboy hats. A dog drove a classic car and even had a disabled dog pull a cart. An old man celebrating his birthday looks at his dog in a wheelchair

Despite being a doctor. Little did Moore know, people were bringing her flowers, balloons, cupcakes, and even adorable photos and posters.

One woman didn’t have a dog, but she put a large doll in the stroller to celebrate Robert’s birthday.

“They were mostly strangers, and it makes you feel wonderful about your community that people would come out and do that for your dad that you love so much. It was really special,” Alison told NBC Bay Area.

It Was A Four-Legged Frenzy

Robert was positively surprised by all this, and couldn’t have been happier.

Everyone who knows Rob describes him as a “dog whisperer”, and he even knew every single breed of dog he met that day.

“My father, he was so touched. He pet every single dog that came through. Every person brought the dog up to him. It was so lovely,” Alison told NBC Bay Area.Alison also said that this was the biggest thing that had happened to their family and definitely one that has brought immense joy.

It was certainly a birthday that Robert and his whole family will never forget.

“It’s hard to explain how special it was. He really felt the birthday love,” Alison said.
