Genevieve Purinton thought she was alone when she was 88 years old. Genevieve’s large family once consisted of eight siblings, but they have since all passed away. She thought she was the only person in the world because she lived in a Tampa assisted living facility.

In contrast to some people, Genevieve was never able to raise kids. In 1949, when she was only 18 years old and became pregnant, she learned that her unborn child had passed away. Genevieve didn’t have any more kids.

Genevieve says, “They told me she had passed away.”. She was rather surprised when a woman reached out and said she was her long lost daughter because she thought she was all alone in the world.

In this video, the reunion is depicted as “a hug to make up for lost time.”. The two held each other for a while, both feeling overwhelmed. Considering that they have never actually spoken to one another before.

Connie, the daughter, claims she has been wanting to meet her birth mother since she was five years old but has never had the chance. She most recently bought a DNA test from Ancestry.com.

Through the search results, she located a long-lost relative who provided the name of her birth mother. When Connie discovered her birth mother was still alive, she immediately knew she had to meet her.

The overall story is one of happiness even though this reunion is 69 years overdue. Genevieve found that she wasn’t as alone as she had thought once Connie reached out to her. With her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in her life, we have no doubt that they will have a ton of adventures to catch up on and memories to make going forward!
