We like fried chicken, just like the majority of honorable Southerners (or, to be honest, anyone with taste buds).

We don’t like how frying oil still smells in our kitchens. The offensive smell we’re referring to is undoubtedly familiar if you’ve ever made your own fried chicken or any other fried dish. When your kitchen (as well as your living room, bedroom, and clothes), almost 24 hours later, still smell like the inside of a deep fryer, it may be extremely sickening.

Given that giving up fried food is obviously not an option, here are some suggestions to help you deal with the stench.

Take several deep breaths before you start. Open every window and turn on the fans to blow air outside. A/C and cooktop fan should be turned on if that is not an option.

Set aside the space where you’ll be cooking. Close the doors to adjacent rooms to stop the smell from leaking into other areas of the house.

On a cookie sheet, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and butter. Bake at 200 degrees for an hour. The scent of freshly baked food will permeate the entire kitchen.

To boil, combine water and vinegar. 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar should be brought to a boil in a small pot. Soak it up for a while. Boil citrus peels or cinnamon sticks for a more natural scent.

Leave bowls of baking soda or coffee grounds on your counter over night to absorb any extra odors.

Activate one (or more) scented candles. Simple and swift!
