Over the weekend, in honor of Mother’s Day, John Travolta gave a moving tribute to his late wife Kelly Preston. After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Preston passed away in July of 2023, which was almost three years ago. Her passing left a significant hole in Travolta’s life; they had been married for about 28 years at the time of her death.
The Pulp Fiction actor Travolta has opened up about his grief in the years since, and this past weekend he posted a fitting remembrance of his late wife: a throwback clip of the actress opening a gift on a previous Mother’s Day. “Kelly, happy Mother’s Day. Ella, 23, and Ben, 12, were the subjects of the caption Travolta wrote on the video.
Preston smiles as she looks inside a white box that is inscribed with the word “MOM” in the video. She doesn’t open the box, but from the brief peek inside, it appears to be filled with pictures of her loved ones. In 2020, Travolta announced the passing of his beloved wife on social media. Travolta wrote, “It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. With the love and support of so many people, she bravely fought. My family and I will always be grateful to her medical staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the hospitals that have assisted, as well as her numerous friends and family members who have stood by her side. ”.
Fans were largely taken aback by John Travolta Preston’s passing because they were unaware that she was in critical condition.

Choosing to keep her battle private, she had been receiving medical care for some time, with the support of her nearest and dearest family and friends, according to a statement issued by a family representative. She was a brilliant, lovely, and loving soul who had a genuine concern for other people and brought life to everything she touched. Due to their current need for privacy, her family kindly requests your understanding. ”.

Last year, Travolta wrote a 30th birthday tribute to his late son Jett, who passed away at the age of 16 while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. Despite the passing of Jett 14 years ago, it is understandable that his father is still deeply affected. When Jett would have turned 30 the previous year, John posted the most touching birthday tributes. John posted on Facebook, “My dearest Jetty, I miss you more than words can say.”. Everyday, I think of you. Congratulations on your birthday.
Dear Dad: Love you.
During this difficult time, our hearts go out to John and to everyone who has lost a mother or the mother of their children.
