The Oscar-winning James Bond actress is coping with macular degeneration.

Judi Dench spoke in a rare new interview about her illustrious acting career and how her diagnosis of macular degeneration, which affects her eyesight, has affected it.

The 88-year-old English actress, who is open about her health issues, clarified whether or not they will force her to give up acting in an interview with The Mirror’s Sunday magazine Notebook.

Fortunately, Dame Judi Dench has stated that she intends to keep working “as much as I can” despite the fact that her vision is failing.

I mean I can’t see on a set any longer, she explained. I can’t read because I’m too dim. I consequently don’t see much. But you already know how to deal with it. Get on.

It’s difficult for me to handle segments that are even marginally lengthy. I have yet to determine how. mainly because a large number of my friends are willing to teach me the script. I have a photographic memory, though.

The Academy Award-winning actress revealed in 2012 that she had macular degeneration, which results in one eye becoming “dry,” causing blurry center vision, and the other becoming “wet,” causing blind spots.

She won’t be retiring anytime soon, according to Dame Judi.
It’s the worst shock to the system, continued Dench. Ghastly. It is terrible to be so reliant on others.

Just before turning 80 in 2014, the movie veteran reaffirmed her commitment to working well into her golden years at a BBC Esio Trot screening. She didn’t care to hear anything different.

Actress made her macular degeneration diagnosis public in 2012.
She continued, “I don’t want to be told I’m too old to do something. I want to see for myself if I can’t do it.
Please give it a shot.
Let’s all give it a go.

She went on to say that age is just a number.
You had to do it because you had to. It really annoys me when people ask me when I’m going to retire. Or, tell me your age.

Dench (shown here in 1957) has been a working actor for more than 60 years.
“For some reason, I never experienced genuine sadness until I was 40 years old. I had a severe emotional breakdown when I turned 40, but I bounced back quickly. An old saying goes, “You are only as old as you feel.”. It has something to do with the inside and is unrelated to age. The engine is it.

Judi Dench elaborates on her love life, saying, “I detest the word partner.”.

In this picture from Miramax Films, Judy Dench plays Queen Elizabeth I in the motion picture “Shakespeare in Love.”. Dench was nominated by the Aca for an Oscar on February 9, 1999, in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.

For her supporting role in “Shakespeare in Love,” she won an Oscar in 1999.
One of the most renowned actresses of all time, Dench is regarded as one of the best in English theater and film history. In addition to receiving an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, a Tony, ten BAFTAs for film and television, and a record seven Laurence Olivier Awards during the course of her six-decade career, she has accrued millions of dollars in box office revenue.
