In order to commemorate the 16th anniversary of her sibling’s infamous disappearance, Madeleine McCann’s younger sister was among those who gathered to light candles. Amelie McCann, who hasn’t been seen publicly since she was a toddler, appeared in Rothley, Leicestershire, England, with her parents, Kate and Gerry, and a large group of well-wishers. Sean, one of her twins, stayed home.
The enigmatic disappearance of Madeleine from a vacation apartment in Portugal in 2007 has now been 16 years ago, which is hard to believe. Madeleine’s parents have consistently argued that she was kidnapped after they left her and her siblings by themselves to eat alone at a nearby restaurant. Numerous theories exist regarding what actually transpired because the case that attracted the attention of the entire world was never solved.
Before the 16th anniversary of the young girl’s disappearance, Kate and Gerry McCann released an emotional statement that read: “Still missing…still very much missed. Finding the right words to express our feelings is difficult. The police investigation is ongoing, and we’re waiting for a breakthrough, they later added. Everyone’s support is greatly appreciated; thank you. The Daily Express reports that Madeleine’s family gathered yesterday evening to light candles in her honor in their home village of Rothley. It was the first time in more than a decade that her younger sister Amelie had been depicted in a photo. Amelie, who is now 18 years old, had long blonde hair and might be able to provide some insight into what Madeleine might look like today.
At her sister’s vigil, Amelie McCann, now 18 years old, was captured on camera for the first time since she was a young child.
Amelie remarked that while it was nice that everyone was present, it was a sad occasion. She also took part in lighting a candle at a war memorial in honor of Maddie and other kids who have gone missing. Around 70 people in the crowd read out mantras like “Never never give up,” “leave no stone unturned,” “don’t forget about me,” and “still missing, still missed.”. It goes without saying that Madeleine’s family continues to hold out hope that she is still alive. Maddie was three years old when she vanished, and what happened to her is still one of the most puzzling mysteries in recent memory. Following a Polish woman, 21, who claimed to be the missing girl, interest in her case has recently increased once more.
In February, Julia Wendell made the sensational claim that she is Madeleine McCann and demanded a DNA test to prove it. Her claim quickly went viral. Even though a test ultimately proved that she wasn’t, Wendell’s assertions served to remind the public that there is still a chance, however remote, that Madeleine is still alive.
In 2020, German authorities declared their conviction that Madeleine was murdered after her kidnapping, naming Christian Brueckner as a key suspect. Brueckner had previously been found guilty of sex offenses in Germany. Currently, the McCann family is in our hearts’ thoughts and prayers.
