It was another cold day in Missouri. Nate Allman, a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, continued on his job, unaware that he would soon encounter a furry creature that would change his life. While delivering the mail, he suddenly came across an old puppy lying on the roadside.

The dog was covered in injuries and had difficulty keeping warm. The moment Allman saw him, his heart broke and he knew he had to help.

Please take him to the hospital

Ohlman began approaching him slowly because he didn’t want to scare him away. As he was coming closer, he realized that the dog was unable to see him and hear him very well.

“I moved around a bit and made some noises, until he could see me and as soon as he did, he stood up and bolted for my mail truck. He was frostbitten, starving and alone,” Ohlman said.

The pup, later named Sloan, felt that he could trust Ohlman and he accepted his help right away. Once Sloan was in his car, Ohlman took a closer look at him. He was severely underweight and neglected.

Allman believed that Sloan had been abandoned by his family. He couldn’t understand how someone could be so callous and betray this beloved puppy.

He immediately took him to the veterinary hospital, hoping his friend would make it in time and that everything would be fine. He left his contact information at the clinic and asked the staff to keep him informed of Sloan’s condition.

Allman went back to work, but he couldn’t stop thinking about Sloan and wondering how he was doing. He was moved by the dog’s plight and the fact that there was no one to love him. Allman decided to put an early adoption on hold.

“I thought about how and why somebody can do such a terrible thing to such a helpless creature. It broke my heart to continue to think he had no one to love him. I had to adopt him — just had to. I do not believe in a lot of things but I do believe I was meant to find him,” Ohlman said.

The Doggo Gets The Best Care Possible

KC Pet Project in Kansas City, Missouri, adopted the adorable pup and transported Sloan to the shelter. Staff at the shelter were heartbroken to see the dog’s condition. He was extremely exhausted and so weak that he could barely stand.

“He had the lowest body score condition that our veterinarians could give,” Tori Fugate, chief communications officer at KC Pet Project, told The Dodo.

Sloan’s caregivers gave him the medication he needed. At first, they doubted whether Sloan would survive, but after receiving the best possible treatment, the dog’s condition began to improve. After he regained his strength, he was moved to a foster home. He was pampered by his host family and continued his development. Sloane has become a very happy and adorable puppy. He really enjoyed the hugs and attention his host family gave him.

Run into your father’s arms

Once Sloan was fully recovered, she was ready to move into her forever home. Friends of the shelter called the puppy’s rescuer, who was eager to find him. Mr. Allman was thrilled to learn that he could finally adopt Sloan.

Sloan’s friends at the shelter were happy to see them again. The adorable pup remembered his savior’s face and was overjoyed to see him again.

He wanted to run into his arms, cover him with kisses and thank him for saving his life.

Sloan fell in love with his life. Finally, he had a father who loved him unconditionally. He felt safe and loved. Sadly, Allman shared on his Facebook page that adorable Sloane has moved into canine heaven.

He was happy with his father, who showered him with all his love. Allman will always cherish the wonderful memories he has made with his beloved dog.
