There aren’t many pictures of Princess Diana that are as well-known as the one showing her sitting in front of India’s famed Taj Mahal. The photograph was taken in 1992 on what is now jokingly referred to as “Lady Di’s Chair,” and millions of people, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, have since copied it.

It’s interesting to note that Meghan Markle missed the chance to create a similar posture when she had the chance.

Meghan frequently found herself travelling to numerous locations throughout the world for various work when she first started dating Harry. On a business trip to India, the former Suits actress had the storied marble monument on her itinerary. In 1982, UNESCO designated it a World Heritage Site.

Prince Harry wrote about what he spoke to Meghan before her trip and how he had cautioned her from remaking the infamous Diana portrait in his book, Spare. She was apparently “baffled” by the explanation.

The title “The People’s Princess” wasn’t given to Princess Diana just because it sounded cool.

No, she became a significant icon for the British people to rely on and be encouraged by during difficult times because of her warm personality and charity activity. She once stated that she preferred to rule as the queen in people’s hearts rather than on paper.

Pictured in front of the Taj Mahal are Princess Diana, Prince William, and Princess Kate. However, if it weren’t for Prince Harry, another princess might have imitated Diana’s image.

Although Harry and Meghan made every effort to keep their relationship a secret, it was soon the focus of widespread rumours after they started dating in 2016. The British tabloids published a variety of articles about them, just as they did about Diana, Harry’s mother.

Harry made the decision to take action as a result of Meghan’s plans to travel to India with World Vision and advocate for adolescent girls’ access to education and menstrual health management.

Harry reportedly told his ex-girlfriend not to snap a picture of herself in front of the Taj Mahal before their flight to India.

The Duke was anxious to avoid the perception that Meghan was imitating his mother. He appeared astonished by her response, but he was actually ecstatic.

Don’t take pictures in front of the Taj Mahal, it says. When she asked me why, I replied, “My mum.” In his book Spare, Harry stated, “I’d explained that my mother had posed for a picture there that had become legendary and I didn’t want anyone thinking Meg was attempting to emulate my mother.

“I loved Meg for being confused because she had never heard of this photo and found the whole thing perplexing.”

Princess Diana’s death in 1997 was mourned by millions of people. But as is typically the case, her family suffered the most severe injuries.
