Pat Sajak, host of “Wheel of Fortune,” opens up about having emergency surgery for a blocked bowel a month ago.
Sajak admitted to feeling like he would pass away just before the surgery in his first interview after the procedure, which he gave to “Good Morning America.”.
While taking his daughter for a morning walk in November, the game show host started to experience “excruciating” agony. Hours later, as he prepared to have surgery, he was on his back, writhing in pain.
In the fetal position, I was lying on the bed, he said. They use a variety of drugs to attempt to manage your pain. And none of it—not a single thing—worked. ”.
He claimed that later, a painkiller was administered to him by his doctors.
He explained, “I was suddenly not thinking about the pain.”. “I just received these incredible pastels, which have faces flowing out of them. ”.
“I could overhear my wife and daughter talking. They were right next to me, but they sounded like they were miles away,” he said. They were talking to one another. I remember thinking, without being morbid, that this must be death. This must be how death feels like. ’”.
He expressed sadness that his wife and kids would “have to cope with the fallout” and expressed concern for them.
Sajak, of course, lived through the procedure, so his fears of dying were unfounded.
He laughed, “It turns out I was just high.
The procedure for Sajak was “totally successful,” according to “Good Morning America. ”.
He claimed that no underlying cause of the intestinal blockage had been found by doctors. He therefore doesn’t need to alter his way of life.
For several weeks, Sajak said, “I’ve been feeling really great.”. “I have resumed performing shows in the studio. Nothing popped even after the wheel was spun. Therefore, I think that’s okay. ”.
Vanna White, a seasoned co-host with Sajak, filled in for him while he was recovering. Sajak made light of his worry that she’ll take over as the main host during the conversation.
He admitted, “I found out she likes hosting, and I’m a little nervous.”.
Sajak seems at ease in his role on “Wheel of Fortune” despite his jokes. ”.
