Without a doubt, one of the biggest traumas in a dog’s life is being in the wrong home. There are still people who buy dogs just because they are cruel, even if they don’t mean it well. That’s exactly what happened to Gabriel, a special needs puppy who was bought to be raised as a ferocious pit bull.
Despite her cheerful personality, Gabrielle went through a lot of trauma before she found a place where she could know the true meaning of love. This is his story!
Smile every time you fail
Kat and Heather, owners of Pibbles Plantation, a farm for special needs dogs in Blandon, Pennsylvania, first met Gabriel when he was a puppy. He had a birth defect that left him unable to stand.
“This puppy was sold at four weeks old with a congenital deformity and couldn’t stand up,” Kat told The Dodo.
The person who originally bought him said he wanted Gabriel to be perfect and tough. Otherwise he would not have returned it. Given his condition, Kat and Heather accepted him with open hearts because they knew it would never work for him. Despite the fact that the treatment would take a long time, they were glad that Gabriel had been taken from his irresponsible owners.
Two weeks before Gabrielle arrived home in Pennsylvania, Kat and Heather took in two dogs, Uriel and Samiel, who suffered from the same condition. The most interesting thing is that Gabriel looks like them.
They are the same age, from the same clan. Now they are all about to embark on a journey of healing together!
three puppies lying beside him
Unlike his siblings, Gabriel took some time to adjust to his new environment. It took him a week to work his tail off, but he’s getting there! He received physical therapy with Uriel and Samiel.
The road to recovery was full of obstacles. Since none of the bowls were deep enough to hold the food, I initially fed all three bowls in pots.
At the same time, they performed the exercises inside a wooden box with a compartment large enough to fit inside, but unable to spread their legs out to the side. This helped them learn to balance and eventually stand on their own.
At 12 weeks, the puppy was finally born! All three got up without a problem, and now it was time to move on to the next step. Unfortunately, Gabriel suffered another setback.
Kat and Heather noticed that he was limping on his front legs. An x-ray revealed that he had a congenital elbow deformity. According to the vet, Gabrielle was always sick growing up. So his leg had to be amputated.
surprising turn of events
His caregivers were heartbroken but knew that amputation was Gabriel’s only option. But they never dreamed that this adorable dog would be a brand new dog the morning after surgery!
He immediately felt much better, and as soon as his leg was gone, the pain seemed to disappear completely. Somehow he was able to walk on three legs better than before and his mother was shocked. They were happy and thankful that he was finally okay.
Gabriel quickly found the perfect home! The amazing family asked Kat and Heather if they could adopt Gabrielle and it turned out to be the best decision.
“Our amazing boy Gabriel conquered his last hurdle, he found his perfect forever family! Gabe will forever be one of the toughest to say goodbye to, but making sure these babies and every dog foster has a great home is why we do this,” Pibbles Plantation wrote on Facebook.
He instantly fell in love with his new hoomans, who provided him with a beautiful home. Together with his family, he soon learned how to swim, play in the back yard, and embark on exciting adventures almost on a daily basis!
Once a hurting dog craving for some love, Gabriel now has everything he has ever dreamed of!
