Barron Trump and his family have been mourning the passing of Melania Trump’s mother and the boy’s grandmother, Amalija. She was buried in Palm Beach some weeks ago, and it was one of the few times in recent days the public has gotten a glimpse of Barron.
The now 17-year-old son of Donald Trump is turning 18 in a few weeks, and in the fall, he is set to leave the comfort of Mar-a-Lago in Florida to enroll in college. All of Trump’s children have been involved in the family business, therefore, many speculate that Barron could soon make his way into the Trump organization.
As Barron turns 18, his life will change significantly as he, on paper, will be an adult. However, a PR expert now gives his verdict on what Barron’s future will be like – and the plan moving forward is nothing like we’ve seen before.
There isn’t a single quiet moment for the Trump family. Donald and Melania’s youngest son, Barron Trump, is in the middle of his senior year of high school at Oxbridge Academy, and his father has begun his campaign to secure a second presidential term.
Barron Trump protected from his father’s media presence by Melania
Just as it’s been for years now, Donald Trump keeps on getting headlines because of his many what some might call provocative statements. Also, the former president is involved in several cases, for example, one that could threaten his entire business empire.
Donald Trump is accused of inflating the value of his many properties by more than $2 billion to secure favorable bank loans. While he is campaigning to become president, other cases are ongoing, too.
Whether one is in favor of Donald Trump or not, it’s easy to imagine that Barron Trump, at 17, indeed is affected by his father’s actions. But one person who is doing her best to protect her son at all costs is Melania Trump.
The former first lady has stayed quiet and hasn’t been seen by her husband’s side on the campaign trail or in the courtroom.
Instead, she has stayed by her son’s side.
“Melania is good at taking care of business at hand, which includes her own life, the life of her son, and the lives of her close family members,” a source told People Magazine.
“She would not stand in a circle of people she knows and openly comment on the lawsuits or the mug shot. She will have her way of dealing with this and anything else publicly when she feels like it,” the source added. “Remember, Melania is a mom with a not-yet-adult son to protect. A mug shot that everyone is talking about is just one more issue to wade through.”
Barron Trump received death threats at school
As of today, not much is known about Barron Trump’s progress in school or how he is living his life at the Mar-a-Lago resort. However, one thing for sure is that his family remains in the spotlight – partly due to his father’s trouble with the law.
As Donald Trump entered several legal cases in the fall of last year, Donald and Melania Trump were said to have been left in shock over what happened to their son, Barron, in August.
In October, a Chicago woman was arrested over alleged threats to kill Donald Trump and Barron. The teacher was arrested on a charge of transmitting threats to kill or injure Donald and his son.
The Guardian reported that the death threat was sent in an email to the unidentified head of an educational institution in Palm Beach County, southern Florida, where Mar-a-Lago is located.
“I will state that I will shoot Donald Trump Sr AND Barron Trump at any opportunity I get!” the woman wrote in an email in May.
It came just months after she had traveled to Florida to stalk Barron. The woman had been questioned by police in Palm Beach outside the Oxbridge Academy in March, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The woman traveled to Oxbridge Academy and asked a security guard if she could meet Barron Trump. Later, the same security guard told police that the woman was a “known stalker of a high-profile student.”
Where will Barron Trump enroll in college?
Meanwhile, she had made calls harassing people at the school, stating that “President Trump’s son attends the school” but that officials “were not following protocol.”
As per CBS, a senior law enforcement official said the woman had been “on the US Secret Service’s radar for several years” and that recently, the “nature of her threats escalated to become more specific.”
What’s suitable for Barron is that his time at Oxbridge will soon end. As a Trump family member, he will undoubtedly begin studying at college afterward, and according to the New York Times, Melania and Donald are already looking at colleges in New York. Donald Trump later confirmed that as he spoke with author Megyn Kelly.
It might be a familiar school for those who know their Trump history. In fact, Donald and his children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Tiffany Trump, have all graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump both graduated from the Wharton School. Tiffany Trump graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, while Donald’s third son, Eric Trump, chose to go to Georgetown University instead.
“I went to the Wharton School of Finance, the toughest place to get into. I was a great student,” Donald Trump has previously said, per AP News.
While it surely will be an excellent step for Barron Trump, his father has a complicated relationship with the Wharton School. As most know, Donald’s surname is seen across all his buildings, including hotels and skyscrapers. At Wharton, however, no building bears his name.
Barron Trump handed ‘significant pubic role’
AP reported that school officials don’t like talking about the former president, so much so that a former pro-Trump student group previously had to be shut down.
While the bookstore at the University of Pennsylvania has a significant number of books written by their alums, there is only one copy of Trump’s 1987 book The Art of the Deal.
“Perhaps the most important thing I learned at Wharton was not to be overly impressed by academic credentials… That degree doesn’t prove very much,” he wrote in The Art of the Deal.
Which school he will attend has yet to be decided. However, Barron Trump appears to have already been handed a more significant public role within his family. That is according to Melania’s former senior aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff.
Behind the walls of the private school Oxbridge Academy and his home at Mar-a-Lago, Barron Trump has been protected from both the public and the media. But as he will attend college, things will be pretty different.
Not only because it is more public but also because he will be 18 and can make his own decisions entirely differently.
Meanwhile, a PR expert has now spoken out about Barron’s potential future plans of being in the spotlight just like the rest of the Trump family. But the son of the former president might not have one.
Speaking to The List, Eden Gillott, crisis management expert, claims that Barron would prefer a quieter life like his mother’s rather than Donald’s love for being in the spotlight.
“Barron will most likely opt for Melania’s elegance of privacy rather than his father’s love of the spotlight. This selective visibility could define his persona, underscoring the sophistication of leading a life of quiet dignity amidst a world that often confuses noise with influence,” she said.
PR expert gives update on Barron Trump’s future
Every time Barron has been seen in public, it has created many articles in the media, not least because of his length, which has turned out to be quite spectacular.
The attention, which he himself not has chosen, could actually be turned to his advantage, Gilliott says.
“Barron has a unique opportunity to capitalize on this increased visibility to subtly shape his own narrative. While his father’s potential presidency could heighten public interest, Barron could use this moment not for direct engagement, but as a chance to reinforce his personal brand of quiet distinction,” she claimed.
“By focusing on his education and personal interests he can navigate the heightened attention in a way that aligns with his preference for privacy, setting a precedent for engaging with the public on his own terms.”
Further, the PR expert concludes that while Barron Trump could become like his father, he is still able to create his own path in life. Not least because his quiet personality has become his “signature trait.”
“Barron’s choice of a quieter path could mark him as the bearer of a new legacy where he redefines what it looks like to carry the name,” Eden Gilliott told The List. “If, at a later point, he decides he wants to fully step into public life, it’ll be much easier to navigate than trying to close Pandora’s box.”
