On Saturday, fans gathered for Rod Stewart’s highly-anticipated Geelong show in Australia. However, the super rock star was forced to cancel his appearance only three hours before show time, angering a lot of fans in the process. However, the 78-year-old British rockstar has come forward to explain the reason for his cancelation and to let fans know that they do not have to worry about any catastrophic health problems for the British rocker.
After he had to cancel his show in Geelong, Stewart came forward to tell fans that he was battling with a bad case of strep throat. The condition made it impossible for him to perform as he would have liked to. However, he does plan to attend his next Australian show in Adelaide on Tuesday. Fans are delighted to hear that he won’t be canceling that second showing.
Stewart shared the news about his health in an Instagram video post to his more than 1.2 million followers. He looked well rested with spikey blond hair while wearing activewear as he talked to the camera from his seat on the couch.
“My dear friends in Adelaide, just to guarantee the show will be going ahead,” he began. “I had a slight setback here in Melbourne, I had strep throat, but I’m fine now. I’ll be there, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Stewart’s video of assurance came after one of his spokespeople posted an update on Monday about how his performance scheduled for the Adelaide Entertainment Center Arena is “definitely still on.” On Tuesday, Rod Stewart will stand in front of his Adelaide audience and belt out his numerous hit songs to a crowd of more than eleven thousand people.
Following his stop in Adelaide, Stewart will then go on to perform on Wednesday, March 29, in Sydney and then with another Australian show on April 1, 2023, at the theater in Hunter Valley.
Stewart is currently touring Australia along with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens. Their first performance together occurred on March 11, 2023, in Perth, Australia.
As for Stewart’s show in Geelong, he had to cancel it only three hours before he was due to appear on stage. He apologized for the last-minute cancelation because he knew his fans were going to be quite upset with him.
He wrote, “Hello, my friends. I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green. Late this morning, I was advised that I have a viral infection, and my throat is too irritated to sing. I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the men and back on the stage.”
The rock star promised to make it up to his fans in the future and thanked them for their support.
Fans of Rod Stewart were relieved to hear that the singer’s health was not in danger after he had to cancel his show in Geelong. Although they were disappointed that they wouldn’t get to see him perform, they are now looking forward to another chance to see him in action.
