Doherty disclosed that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February 2020.
Shannen Doherty’s health status has been updated.
The 52-year-old actress revealed on Tuesday that, in addition to being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February 2020, a CT scan done on January 5 had also revealed she had brain metastases. The Mayo Clinic claims that the disease arises as a result of cancer cells migrating from their original location to the brain.
She wrote in the caption of an Instagram video of herself receiving radiation treatment: “January 12 saw the start of radiation.
I’m afraid it is obvious.
There was a lot going on in my life, and I have severe claustrophobia. ”.
“I am blessed to have wonderful doctors like Dr. Dot Amin Mirahdi and the amazing technologists at Cedar Sinai,” she said. But this is one of the symptoms of cancer. Stress, uncertainty, and timing are all present. ”.
“When you think you have 10 or 15 more years to live, it’s difficult to settle your affairs. ”.
Doherty made her admission after posting a video of herself on Instagram on June 5 getting fitted for the mask she used while receiving treatment with the caption “January 9, 2023. ”.
At a Charmed panel at 90s Con in March, Doherty previously gave an update on her health.
When asked how she felt, Doherty exclaimed, “I’m feeling great, thank you!”.
After receiving her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2015 and revealing that the disease had returned after going into remission in 2017, Doherty has regularly updated her followers on the progress of her treatment.
“Everything isn’t perfect, but it’s real, and by sharing, I hope that we can all learn more and develop a better understanding of what cancer looks like. ”.
In October 2021, she published her declaration on Instagram. She said, “I hope I’ve inspired women to get mammograms, to have regular checkups, to face their fears, and to take on whatever may be in front of them.
