When Alice Ensor, an adoption consultant at Mattville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco, received an adoption application from someone named Joanna, she didn’t think much of it… Until you confirm your personal information.

Alice couldn’t believe that Joanna had turned 100 and decided to keep her puppy. never too old

After realizing just how old this potential adopter was, she was almost certain that she had to be a very big canine lover.

“When I first received Johanna’s adoption questionnaire, I was a bit surprised. 100 years old is definitely a milestone in and of itself. We don’t often have a centenarian looking to bring home a new mutt. I knew that Johanna had to be a very special dog lover to be looking for her new furry friend ahead of her 101st birthday,” said Alice.

Even though some might be concerned about Johanna’s age and the fact that she wants to adopt a pup, Alice wasn’t worried at all.

Johann’s adoption application contained great details explaining her situation.

Johan said he has a very strong support system, as well as his daughter Debbie and a guardian who helped him get the puppy back.

Considering all this, Alice was happy to tell her one of her older puppies that she had found her forever home. But what kind of puppy is it?

Christine Hoff, Matville’s adoption manager, was actually the one who realized that Gnocchi might be the best fit, and things became very easy from there.

Puppy named Gnocchi

Gnocchi, the cutest dog in the world, had already spent a significant amount of time in a San Francisco shelter and was struggling to find his forever home.

He was rescued from a home with 22 dogs, including himself, so he really had to be the only pup in the home. When no one wanted to adopt him, young Gnocchi began to lose hope. However, his luck is about to completely run out.

We set up a virtual call where Johanna could see Gnocchi in a home setting, and it was love at first sight. We processed the adoption the next day, and Debbie helped pick up and bring Gnocchi to his new mom. Debbie let us know that Gnocchi walked into the house and jumped right into Johanna’s lap.

Best Friends

A year had passed and Johanna and Gnocchi, now called Gucci, couldn’t be happier.

Johanna is now happily waiting for her 102 birthday and she has never felt better. She states that all of this is thanks to her new furry friend.

This year has been a great year for Gucci. It brings me great joy! I like it when he sits on my lap and keeps me company. Having Gucci in my life has given me someone to love and care about, and that means a lot at my age.

During this time together, Gucci and Joanna established a very strict routine. Every morning, the two best friends move from their bedroom to the living room and sit comfortably in their favorite armchairs.

The two then spend the day together, cuddling and watching TV, while Joanna’s caretaker makes sure Gucci takes his daily walk.

“They are thick as thieves. He is spoiled rotten! He’s a couch potato who was a perfect match for my mom!” said Debbie, Johanna’s daughter.
