An interesting fact I read somewhere on the internet is that the most common reason older dogs are abandoned is when their owners move to a new place that doesn’t accept dogs.

But that doesn’t excuse some people from struggling to find a new home. Instead, they are left out on the cold streets or surrendered to shelters for others to do for them. It’s cruel and not worth it.

In this story we will talk about a big dog who was abandoned by his owner and for some reason ended up in a cat shelter in Ohio.

the dog saves the cat

It was a normal day for Kay Banks, who worked at Tabby Tails Cat Rescue. Suddenly I noticed something strange outside. When she went outside, she noticed a dog wandering around an Ohio cat shelter that might have been her neighbor’s dog.

But when I checked again, it turned out he was out, so I let him in right away. He saw the gray fur and realized it was a bigger dog. The bank named him Honey and determined he was at least 15 years old and had a microchip.

The bank called her former owners, but they didn’t want her back, so she had to take care of Honey for now.

Honey is a very good dog

I really wanted to find a good family, but since I spend most of my time with cats and Honey is a big dog, it wasn’t easy. One idea was to take him to a good dog shelter, but he would probably be euthanized if finding a new home was too difficult.

So, for now, Banks has done his best to take care of Honey and solve some of her problems. The dog had arthritis and received laser treatment which resulted in less pain and easier movement.

He had other issues like toenails, ticks and fleas, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a visit to the vet. After a while, Honey became comfortable around Banks and enjoyed being with him.

Banks hopes that, against all odds, she can find someone willing to adopt the big dog, but she wants to take care of him until that day comes.
