Mckenna, a 4-year-old singing to her mother Diana who is battling stage 4-Hodgkin lymphoma, in this heartwarming video.
The two were seen together at a cancer awareness event that Diana’s relatives hosted. Diana is seated on a chair at the end of a dance floor, surrounded by family members and friends who are seated at tables and chairs covered in purple fabric.
Little Mckenna is holding the microphone and standing in front of her mother. Mckenna doesn’t seem to be aware of the surrounding crowd. She sings to her mother, who is the only person in the room, keeping her gaze fixed on her.
When Mckenna says, “When you’re weak, I am strong,” to Diana while she is sobbing and lip-syncing to one of their favorite Martina McBride songs, Diana responds.
As the song ends, Diana reaches out her arms to her daughter, and Mckenna advances to give her a bear hug.
This video received millions of views when Ellen Degeneres first posted it, and it received a lot of favorable comments. A week later, Diana and Mckenna were invited to appear on Ellen.
In an unexpected move for Diana, Martina McBride made her stage debut during the interview. Mckenna and Martina perform a duet of the well-known song on the show. To top it all off, Ellen presents the mother and daughter with a check for $20,000. Diana shows her gratitude while feeling overjoyed.
Those who have gone through a health crisis realize how lucky they are to have such strong support during difficult times. The most effective motivators are occasionally the youngest kids!
