Family and friends greeted Alexia, the young girl who miraculously recovered her hands following an accident, at her house.
After being hospitalized since the accident in Pascani that caused her to lose a portion of her hands, Alexia underwent surgery to restore her hands.
On the first day of the New Year, Alexia was released from the hospital after the operation was deemed a success and was welcomed home by the arms of those she loved the most.
The celebration of Alexia’s recovery left everyone inconsolable as they welcomed her back to her family with renewed vigor and joy.
Alexia’s family was overjoyed and moved to tears when she arrived home after a successful operation. A skilled team of doctors worked on the procedure for more than 50 hours, making it the first surgery of its kind to be completed at the European level.
A few of the team members included Mara Popescu, Daniela Botez, Bogdan Caba, Laurens Gardikiotis, Roxana Cretu, Romica Rusu, Andrei Ivan, Lavinia Lonescu, Veaceslav Cuciuc, Tudor Ciobanu, Dana Horobet, and Mimi Fermesanu.
Only the second bilateral arm replantation has been documented in Europe, making it a noteworthy success for all parties involved.
In addition to expressing her joy at being reunited with her loved ones, Alexia spoke of feeling a deeper sense of calm than while in the hospital. Her safe return to her house made her father happy.
