A shelter in a heavily populated area of Kentucky was home to a small, pregnant terrier with a full stomach. Due to the circumstances, the shelter could not accommodate all the dogs and needed help. As soon as the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) vets heard about this adorable mom in need, they swooped in like superheroes and came to her rescue. Their help came just in time as the babies were on the way!
small dog, big belly
Veterinarian and dog before birth
This irresistible maternal charm quickly made her part of the KHS family and earned her the nickname Mama Malone. Considering how big her belly was, the veterinary team decided that the safest way to welcome the emaciated baby into the world is a cesarean section.
I was anxious but also worried at the same time. Thank you for coming to the Kentucky Humane Society where you can safely deliver puppies.
said the doctor. Emily Bewley, who was chief veterinarian at the time of Malone’s birth. The staff decided it was good for the doctor. Emily nursed her mother Malone and cared for her puppy. Emily knew she had a big task ahead of her, but she was determined to make her mother more comfortable than ever. She also knew there would be a lot of puppies inside, so she gathered the entire KHS veterinary staff to make sure everyone was ready when it came time to deliver the babies.
On the way to the shelter, her son sat in the back seat of the car with her to comfort her. Meanwhile, the vet team was getting everything ready at the shelter because they knew there would be a lot of puppies and they would all need our hands. After arriving at the shelter, the operation took only 20 minutes.

And he was right! Small dogs usually have up to 5 puppies, but Marlon’s mom had 9 puppies!
This certainly impressed all the staff and they kept us updated on how this brave pup was doing.
However, there was a concern for employees. Given the circumstances of the birth, they thought Marlon’s mother would have difficulty bonding with her cubs. But he couldn’t be more wrong. When he woke up, it was as if he had done it before, even though it was the first time. He takes care of everything. puppy feeding dog
Mama Malone and her puppies were left in the warm and loving arms of KHS. Of course, this shelter received their love and attention and became a puppy paradise. This brave and courageous mother quickly recovered and her cubs grew big and strong in no time.
After seeing how amazing these puppies are, KHS knew they would be a wonderful addition to any family. So they took to Facebook to let everyone know they were looking for a forever home. close to the dog
the last word
Brave Mama Malone has found her forever home and is happier than ever knowing her pup is in the safe and loving hands of her new parents.
At every event, I am always reminded of the important role animal shelters play in rescuing and caring for animals in need. Let’s try to support them in any way we can so that together we can make a difference in this furry life.
