An unlucky accident occurred as the flight from San Diego to Indiana took off: one of the aircraft’s wings hit a huge boulder atop Otay Mountain.
Unfortunately, this accident was the cause of the plane’s destruction. While the rest of the group went on an expedition, Reba, who was feeling unwell at the time, remained at the hotel with her husband Narvel and stylist.
The fatalities included Terry Jackson, Joey Cigainero, Paula Kaye Evans, Jim Hammon (the tour manager), and Chris Austin.

In the early hours of the morning, Narvel arrived in our hotel room with the devastating news that a plane had crashed. I asked with my voice shaking, “Are they all okay?”. Narvel’s response, “I don’t think so,” weighed heavily on my emotions. I persisted, looking for clarification, “But you’re not sure.”. I don’t think so, he remarked softly. ”.
