Since disclosing his cancer diagnosis in June 2022, the country singer’s performances in Oklahoma marked his first since then.

Toby Keith triumphantly performed on stage for the first time since revealing that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer last summer over the holiday weekend. He surprised everyone by performing twice.

The 61-year-old country singer gave two 2:05-hour sets on June 30 and July 1 at Hollywood Corners, the bar and music venue he owns in Norman, Oklahoma.

In a post on his page on July 1, he wrote: “Toby’s first rehearsal turned into a 212-hour pop-up show. He performed all the top songs as well as the bus songs. ”.

The following evening, Keith posted once more, sharing additional pictures of himself laughing and playing a guitar with longtime friend and business partner Scotty Emerick.

Following his June 2022 announcement that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer the previous fall and was undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery, the events marked Keith’s first set of performances since his announcement.

The “I Love This Bar” singer provided The Oklahoman with a health update last month, stating that he was “feeling pretty good” and planned to resume touring by the end of the year, assuming he could maintain his strength.

“Generally speaking, everything is going in a really good direction. You never know with cancer, so you need to be prepared, he advised. My wind is stronger. And to see if I can make it through two hours, I’m thinking about setting up shop with the band and playing somewhere for two or three days. ”.

We’ll resume working after a brief break from this treatment, so all I have to do is see if I can get through the next two or three nights of work.

Keith, who is still undergoing chemotherapy, reports that his blood tests are improving and that his tumor has decreased by about a third. He also mentioned getting immunotherapy and visiting a dietician.

The artist previously expressed an interest in performing once his health was back in order, but as he stated to CMT in December, he needed “a little bit of time to just rest up and heal up” before doing so.
