On Trading Spaces, the do-it-yourself program that inspired fans all over the world to unleash their inner designers, Ty Pennington is renowned as the ruggedly attractive carpenter. Following 20 years on television, fans are now advising the DIY TV personality to undergo a makeover of his own.

Ty Pennington’s brilliant response after being slammed for not having the same body he did 20 years ago

Shutterstock Pennington, who was given the name Gary Tygert Burton when he was a child, is a shameless prankster who enjoys performing for Instagram. He frequently posts funny clips of his wild (bad) dance moves, and in many of them, his wife can be heard giggling in the background. A natural entertainer, Pennington bills himself as a jack of all trades. An ex-model who was once the face of J-Crew revealed that he intended to become a graphic designer and that he worked in construction to help support himself while attending art school.

When his modeling career was destroyed by a nearly fatal car accident when he was only 27 years old, he decided to switch to carpentry. “Overnight, it seemed as though my career would take off, but fate had other ideas. I would have a terrible car accident just one week later,” Pennington writes. I put away the one decent headshot I had, grabbed my tool bag of choice, and returned to carpentry and construction. I would receive a call to audition for Trading Spaces nine years later, and the rest is history. ”.

Leaving Las Vegas, a 1995 movie starring Nicholas Cage, served as Shutterstock Pennington’s Hollywood debut. However, it was his function as a builder on Trading Spaces—the program that challenged accepted notions of home renovations—that propelled him to fame. Following his departure from Trading Spaces, Pennington hosted Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from 2003 to 2012, a position for which he was honored with two Primetime Emmy Awards.

For 10 episodes of the show’s revival in 2020, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the star of Modern Family, took over hosting duties from Pennington, who writes on Instagram, “Not gonna lie, my ego took a huge punch to the gut. That hurt. It also confused me a great deal. I started to question my skills, my knowledge, and my overall self-confidence. However, the position was never about me. To be completely honest, it was and always will be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. However, it wasn’t the end of Pennington’s career; he “dusted” himself off, “strapped on” his boots, and came back for the second and third seasons of the Trading Spaces revival (2018–2019). Currently, Pennington can be seen as a mentor and design expert on the third season of HGTV’s Battle on the Beach and as the host of the fourth season of the program Rock the Block.

He also wrote two books, “Good Design Can Change Your Life: Beautiful Rooms, Inspiring Stories,” and “Ty’s Tricks: Home Repair Secrets Plus Cheap and Easy Projects to Transform Any Room.”. ”.

Pennington also promotes awareness of the behavior-altering disorder and is open about having ADHD. A DUI charge was brought against him in 2007 when he was 41, and he was sentenced to three years of probation as well as a 90-day alcohol program.

“Driving while intoxicated is never acceptable. I have entered a plea of not guilty and agree to follow the court’s decision. He said in a statement, “I hope this experience can help others as much as it has helped me. The endearing builder married Kellee Merrell, a social media manager from Vancouver, in November 2021. He frequently amuses her with his daily antics.

The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition alum, who is still a gorgeous man, was shocked by disparaging remarks on his age and appearance after posting a hilarious video of him on the beach with his shorts spiked up to his stomach. Some fans used the opportunity to criticize the apparent large keg that has replaced his once sculpted six pack, to which he responded, “…btw I’m pushing my stomach out but ok.”.

Pennington responded to the criticisms in a lengthy Instagram post titled “Thoughts on Aging,” encouraging people to behave politely toward both men and women. He wrote: “What was an honest moment of just trying to make my wife laugh, was then picked apart by strangers- with a lot of views, comes a lot of hate! Comments like “disgusting,” “gross,” “omg he’s so old now,” “grandpa,” “he got fat…And I wondered, if I was still young and fit, would I be getting the same comments?” He added, “There has been such a force behind accepting all shapes and sizes.

Pennington, a Trading Spaces favorite on TLC, noted that he was much younger when he first made his television debut. I hear questions like, “NOOOo what happened to him???!” and, most recently, “lack of exercise,” which I wish were true because I have never worked out harder in my life. (This over 50 sh*t is no joke.) I work out seven days a week. It has been 22 YEARS since he made his television debut. “What happened,” he wrote. “No, I don’t have a six pack or luscious hair (with frosted tips) anymore, but I do have wisdom, empathy, and life lessons, and at 57, I’ve truly never been happier. Although I am older, I still think it’s pretty cool. ”.
