They serve. They risked their lives to keep us safe. They have courage like no other.

However, when the service ends, people are often left out. Veterans are not getting the treatment they deserve.

Veterans are not appreciated as much as they should be. When one of those brave men had only a few dollars in his pocket, luck dealt him a cruel blow. He lost his best friends – his canine friends.

But Vietnam veteran James Park was not alone in this world. With a little help from good people, James and his cubs are tearfully reunited.

Thanks to the good people, I joined again.

A man laughs with a woman

Vietnam War veteran James Park was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Park spent a long time in the hospital after the life-threatening accident. During this time, he had to say goodbye to his two dogs, Bailey and Blaze. Since Perk lived alone, no one could take care of the dog. The local First State Animal Center and SPCA in Newark, Delaware took in the dogs until Puck recovered. Unfortunately, according to central government policy, the recovery took too long, making it impossible to keep the dog. Bailey and Blaze had to be put up for adoption. According to the regulations, if you want to own a dog, you have to pay an adoption fee.

Everyone, including Puck, has to pay for a dog, even if they have one. Puck was desperate. His hospital bills were so high he could barely afford them. The only thing she can do to save money to adopt a dog is to sell her car.

There wasn’t much in the package and the $250 adoption fee meant the world to him. This money was his ticket back to his beloved friends.

The good people at the PetSmart store where the shelter is located heard James’ story and immediately decided to help. Little by little, everyone donated $5, $10, $15 to cover the adoption costs.

It didn’t take long to collect the payment. But James knew nothing.

When she arrived at PetSmart to fill out the paperwork to inspect and pick up her dog, she was surprised. Employers welcomed James and gave him their savings. Then everyone started crying.

The center’s director cut Mr. Park’s compensation in half. Volunteers paid the adoption fee and the remaining money was used to buy supplies for James and his dogs.

James couldn’t believe what the volunteers were saying. She was very shocked and could not speak or react except to scream and gasp for air.

happy man with dog

After three long months, James was reunited with his dogs. They mean everything to him. They are the only living things that care about James. James’ heart can now be said to be completely healed.
