Lung cancer was initially diagnosed in 2021 for the star of My Life on the D-List.
Kathy Griffin is nearing full recovery after having vocal chord surgery to treat her lung cancer.
In August 2021, the 62-year-old comedian posted on social media that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, writing: “I’ve needed to tell you, guys, something. I’m affected by cancer. I’m about to have the lower portion of my left lung removed during surgery. It’s true that I have lung cancer despite never smoking. ”.
The doctors are very optimistic because it is only stage one and only affects my left lung. I’m hoping that by the time this is over, I won’t need chemotherapy or radiation, and my breathing will return to normal. In a month or less, I should be back to normal,” she declared.
At a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance in December of that same year, she revealed to her fans that she had been given the all-clear from cancer.
Although she claimed the tumor, which she said had been there “for ten years,” had been completely removed at the time, she later updated her status on TikTok on Wednesday night, saying she had undergone one more procedure to ensure her overall health.
Kathy updated her fans throughout the course of her vocal chord surgery. She first shared video of her pre-op appointment, which showed her sitting in the doctor’s office wearing a stunning floral coat and a sparkling red shirt, no less.
She first referred to her doctor as a “kickass female voice surgeon” before posting a video of herself having a camera inserted through her nose and down her throat. She revealed that her left vocal cord had been paralyzed as she displayed close-up photographs of how her vocal cords appeared.
The celebrity was seen in the clip that followed her successful operation. She is still lying in a hospital bed and there is a blue marker mark on the left side of her neck on the film.
She addressed the camera and said, “I want to be in the best shape for my big Vegas show on June 17, and this is only a part of my recovery after lung cancer surgery.
I’m free of lung cancer, she exclaimed joyfully, adding, “I’m a little scratchy today, but I’ll be fine.”.
She wrote in the caption of her TikTok video, “I so appreciate you guys following along on my journey to get my voice back after lung cancer.”.
I’m very appreciative of Dr. Barbu.”.
Fans immediately poured supportive remarks into her post’s comments section, writing: “Long-time admirer here. I wish I could see you in Vegas. You really sound much better, and I know you’ll kill it. “Small steps!”.
