After learning she had breast cancer in 2015, the Charmed actress and Kurt Iswarienks got divorced in 2023.
Shannen Doherty’s fans and famous people expressed their sorrow after she gave an update on her protracted battle with cancer and the terrifying radiation therapy experience.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star has been open about her battle with cancer, which began in 2015. She claims that her dog Bowie was the one who convinced her to get checked out when he started to “obsessively sniff” her side.
In 2016, she disclosed that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, requiring eight cycles of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
She went into remission in 2017, but she told the Associated Press that a year later, her tumor indicators had become “elevated.”.
In 2020, Shannen revealed during a segment on Good Morning America that her condition had returned as stage 4 breast cancer, indicating that it had spread to other parts of her body in addition to the original tumor.
“I’m not sure I’ve given it much thought. It’s a hard pill to swallow in a lot of ways,” she said at the time.
Shannen said there had been so much tragic drama in the last few years. Both the unexpected dissolution of her 11-year marriage to Kurt Iswarienko and her ongoing battle with cancer, which has since spread to her brain due to metastatic breast cancer, have been difficult for her.
The actor announced that she and Kurt were divorcing. When they first started dating in 2008, her publicist Leslie Sloane said: “Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted,” adding: “Unfortunately, she felt she had no other choice. ”.
The seasoned PR professional for Hollywood stated in a different way, “You can contact Kurt’s agent, Collier Grimm at PICTUREKID, as she is intimately involved. ”.
The only thing Shannen said in response to the allegedly sudden breakup was this cryptic statement: “The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness, and total respect. ”.
Shannen hadn’t provided many updates on her battle with cancer up until this week, when she posted two videos of her radiation treatment from January on Instagram. In the first video, as she prepares to enter a scanning device, she can be seen donning the radiation-protective mask.
She reportedly shot the second, even more depressing video on January 12 and released it the next day. She’s wearing the aforementioned mask, she’s already in therapy, and she’s lying down with tears streaming down her face when a red light shines over her.
She recalled that after her CT scan on January 5 revealed brain mets, “the first round of radiation treatment was administered on January 12th.”.
Clearly, I’m worried.
Due to my severe claustrophobia, I was quite busy. ”.
She added, “I am blessed to have excellent medical professionals like Dr. Dot Amin Mirahdi and the outstanding technologists at Cedar Sinai. ”.
