Susan Hickman was out for a walk in the summer of 2014 when she noticed something. She noticed a cracked eggshell on the ground.
Susan decided to look into the building rather than continue for some reason.
She was shocked to find out that there was!
When Susan peered inside, she saw a young chick. He had no feathers and closed eyes.
Susan tried to find a nest, but she couldn’t find one.
Susan realized that the chick wouldn’t survive on his own if she left him there, so she made the decision to try to save him.
But it’s not easy to raise a baby bird. Throughout the first two weeks, Susan had to feed the bird every 20 to 30 minutes from dawn until dusk.
Susan persevered despite the challenging process. She had a close relationship with the chick, so she used a tiny medication dropper to make sure he received the nutrition he required.
The bird put up a great fight and survived the first day.
Also, the following day.
She quickly gave him the name Klinger.
His eyes were now open.
Getting feathers….
Eventually, he developed into a large, regal bird.
How about that for a change?
